I am a huge football fan and am trying to find a sports bar on st.thomas where I can watch NFL football on Sunday while my wife shops.

Say, why not just go shopping with your wife? Here's what'll happen- a bunch of very large guys are going to smash into each other, one team will win eventually, someone will get hurt, the sportscasters will second-guess every move and you can read about it the next day in the paper anyway. I never understand men. If you shop, or better yet, take your wife out to a romantic meal, you'll score big!! PS, I live about 5 miles from Gillette Stadium but this proves that a love of sports does NOT travel through the water supply as I'm still waiting for hubbie to shut off the boobtube during football season and hope there's no game from Nov 5-12th while we're in STJ.

In STT I would go to the Caribbean Saloon in Red Hook. It seems to be a favorite with football fans.
In response to Karrieb: If I lived that close to Gillette Stadium and could get tickets I'd be there for every game.
When I'm on island I opt for Skinny Leg's in STJ.

I vote with Karrie! I can watch football every Sunday..and most Mondays and Saturdays. And I can watch (in person) SIU's football games. GO SALUKIS (and people are asking...WHAT is a SALUKI?) But a trip to the Virgin Islands doesn't happen every day..or week..or month..or year...so I'll appreciate what's there while I am there!

We're Patriots fans. A couple of years ago we were going to be on STJ on a Sunday when a real must-see game was being played. We planned to be at Skinny's early to have a good seat. But....after a couple of days on STJ our mindsets began to change (as always happens). When Sunday rolled around, we faced a decision: spend a day sitting in a bar watching football on television or go snorkeling. I have no recollection of who the Pats may have played or who won. I do have some great memories and photos from the day we finally made it to Drunk Bay.

We don't watch tv or rent videos when we're there. I don't bring a laptop or a cellphone. I put my watch away. We've even stopped bringing cds because I found I'd rather listen to tree frogs, waves and donkeys. Somehow I do without all the things that seem so essential at home and find that I'm totally content.

Thanks for understanding guys! Actually hubbie isn't too bad and its too early in the season for him to be anything but fair-weather so I think the snorkling and watching the land crabs etc will mean more to him too. We avoid all electronic entertainment BUT I will say on one very early memorable trip, we ended up in an open air restaurant in Cruz Bay with a huge movie screen where we enjoyed a single (no kidding) beer and watched the Starship Enterprise good guys beat the c--- out of the Romulens- great entertainment as the breeze blew the screen around!
Hey Canoebase- do you drink instant coffee? I'm pretty sure I'll have extra left over in the jar I'm bringing to the Ecotents and will leave it for you when we leave, at the office with Canoebase label on it if you like. I hate to waste and since we won't get to meet you, it seems like a fun, tiny post-visit connection since you don't arrive till later in the month.

Sure, and thanks, Karrie...and through this board I discovered that another couple are planning to be there the same time that we are...they are from Columbia, MO..and apparently will be on the same flights as us from STL, ain't the Internet cool? I'm kinda like you, I'm an early bird, LOVE to enjoy a cup of coffee before everyone gets up. And I can't think of a better place to have a quiet cup of coffee than where we're going!

"Say, why not just go shopping with your wife? Here's what'll happen-"

You'll walk around from store to store comparing prices on things you don't really need or really can't afford until one or both of you break down and start to thing you do or can. Then you begin to bargain with the sales person hoping to break their spirit but realizing they had you the minute you walked in the place for the 4th time.
One team will win, someone will get hurt and you'll second guess what you did. It won't appear in the newspaper the next day but you will get to read about it the following month when the VISA bill arrives.

Don't want to waste my time watching TV either so I vote for snorkeling. 🙂

My husband said that all the stores have a chair, or more than one right inside the entrance. He calls them the husbands chairs. He sits and watches people while I bargain. LOL Have fun:

That's great, I hope you all enjoy each other's company. BTW- its only instant that I'm leaving you because I batted around all my one cup coffee options and decided that I was going to way too much trouble for a single cup and said, what the heck, instant will do. I also have a bunch of sugar and creamer packets so any extras I'll leave too (if I haven't sprinkled the sugar on the deck railing for the banana quits!

Caribbean Saloon is great, if you are out on the East Side... Greenhouse shows the games, and is near the downtown shopping area...
