March 1 Indigo changed ownership. The new owners are the Old Stone Farmhouse folks. On March 1 the usual Indigo menu was available. On March 8 the menu was completely different i.e. venison, duck, etc. (td) Not a single item from the old menu was on the new menu, and we were told the menu will change regularly. Indigo staff and and others in the STT restaurant community mentioned that the new Indigo folks are trying to fix something that isn't broken. That is their prerogative. Meanwhile, I and other local Indigo regulars are looking for a new restaurant to frequent. 🙁

I really hate to hear that. Indigo was one of my favorite places for lunch, and I loved so many things on their menu. No more fish face? 🙁

E.E.:

Robert's Sunday brunch is great, too. We've been there twice (for brunch) in the past month.....need to exercise now to lose the weight we gained.

Indigo has changed but neither for the better nor worse...it is just a new and different menu. We ate there the other night and it was delicious!
There is a wonderful lobster pot pie, some of the best mussels steamed in ale that I have ever had and a truly delectable chocolate fudgy brownie pie covered with a layer of choc mousse and then a layer of vanilla mousse. Excellent coffee too, and I can't say that about too many restaurants on this island.

Get over yourselves people, the food was excellent!

Pooh: How were the prices?

Was there tonight - no lobster pot pie, was that a special the night you were there? Had sea bass which was pretty good but not as good as the last time I had it a couple of months ago (different recipe) Prices seemed reasonable enough - sea bass was $27 as was my friend's filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce which was quite a hefty size. Service was OK but wish they'd have some decent lighting so one could read the menu! Judgement reserved for now - not bad but I didn't have the same "oh wow" all-around feeling I had before the changeover. Cheers!

Soooo disappointed that Indigo has changed ownership, it had become my favorite restaurants on St. Thomas. Last year none of us (6) enjoyed the Old Stone house which we have really liked in previous years but last year we found it pretentious and not worth the money. But I'll reserve judgement until I try it myself .

As far as Indigo goes, the Lobster Pot Pie was on the printed menu that we received, so I don't think it was a "special" . We also had the braised beef ribs which were meltingly delicious! The prices were in the $19-25 range for the main course and $7-9 for appys. The lighting is exactly the same as it was before, candles and ambient poolside lighting.

Big disappointment for me was the Old Stone Farmhouse. Saved it for my last night on STT and was sorry to see the duck off the menu and also the citrus pie...the food was pretentious and way overpriced for what you got. I had rack of lamb...HAH! 3 tiny skinny chops...6 skinny stringbeans and I must say a decent portion of delicious gratin potatoes. Everything is a "tasting menu" of 3 ($63) or 4 ($75) entrees or way overpriced tasting "tours" for up to $175 with wine parings PER PERSON! Outrageous...and....the promised brunch has been cancelled.

Best meal both for taste and value...the "awesome" Prime Rib night (Sat) at The Toad & The Tart! $25 fabulous prime rib with mashed potatoes, carrots, fresh broccoli, Yorkshire Pudding...added homemade pple pie with cinnamon ice cream....to die for dinner! I am fast becoming a real fan of this place...nothing to dress up for, mind you, just terrific home cooking 4 nights a week. Google it for their website, photos of every dish are on there....can't wait to go back for the roast duck!

Poohwear,
Ditto, Ditto,Ditto on Toad and the Tart outstanding prime rib, it was better than Mom's and she is an outstanding cook. I wonder if anyone reading this could this could convince the owner to have it on the menu another night also.

I was almost afraid to rave about the Toad, afraid that I may not get a table in the near future......now if only I could get my photo to work on this board!

Had dinner at Indigo last night. Four of us had different entres. Filet mignon was excellent. Caribbean lobster done perfectly. Very tasty. Salmon and lobster dish was great. Caribbean paella was a nice mix of lobster, mussels, shrimp and scallop with chorizo sausage to kick it up a bit. Mussels appetizer was very nice. Service was very accomodating. We were concerned about the change in ownership since we were very well acquainted with the old Indigo and loved it. We were also well acquainted with the Old stone farmhouse and not so thrilled with it last year. Very pleased to see Indigo retain its standards.

I never had a meal at Indigo that was less than supurb. Never. But I phoned (twice) last November to try to make reservations, and I was treated so rudely on the phone I decided to never return. Later in January I mentioned that to another couple and they had the same rude phone treatment! Maybe I'll give Indigo another try.

We were staying at Magens Point resort during 3/1-3/8 and ate often at Indigos. At first we did not realize what was going on but by Tuesday it was evident that there was definite change in personnel, including their friendliness and service. It was quite evident of the bartender. The food was very good and since we were not familiar with the original Indigo's I cannot compare the menu.

I can only say that if the wait staff continues with the service and the attitude that we experienced they will have a hard time retaining patrons. Apparently from what we could figure out is that the staff that was on 3/1 and 3/2 which were great were not there anymore after 3/2 and new staff left alot to be desired. Since we own a timeshare there we will visit next March, and if it is the same will look for other
dining option which is a shame since it was very convenient and the food was very good.

I wonder why they changed what was working so well. It was hard to get a table there, so I assumed everyone thought highly of it.
Did they change chefs, or just owners/mgmt?

Hey Blu.

The owners (R and K) were the chef/management and they sold the restaurant. After they take a few months break I'm hoping they'll opt to remain on STT for their next restaurant venture. Say HI to G for me!
