Me and my husband will be staying on JVD in a cottage for one week.

Any suggestions?? If you have stayed there before what would you recommend taking?

We have been to JVD twice on day cruises...so this will be our first time staying on island.

Thanks!!!
Jen

Jen,

Take your bikini, towel, a pair of shorts, a tank top and one long sleeve shirt (in case it gets cool). Bring a good book or two. That's all you need. My husband and I go to JVD every year for 3 weeks and it's amazing. Are you staying w/ White Bay Villa's? Enjoy Jill

When we are on JVD we order all our groceries from a market on Tortolla, we tell them when we are arriving then they put it on the ferry and we just go and pick it up. so easy, so convenient. You won't find many provisions on JVD, it's rather sparce. The grocery store we order from has everything from produce to liquor and everything inbetween.

Hello,

There is no ATM on Jost, so if you plan to get taxis they only take cash, so I would recommend keeping a couple hundred on hand, unless you are renting a car. In a case of a cash emergency, you can visit JVD grocery store, they can run your credit card for $50.00, and give you $45.00.

Also, remember to check with your cell phone provider, as you will be roaming...if you browse internet on your cell, or send an email, it can cost you per megabyte. Data roaming is something cell phone companies dont really talk or warn people about, so make sure to check.

JVD grocery store has ice, cruzan rum for around $7.00 per bottle, beer, wine, water, sodas, canned good, dry goods, toiletries, batteries, aspirin, eggs, cheese, milk, fruit, and some vegs. They also have local fish in the cooler on most days. And you can leave without getting some ice cream!

Most likely your villa will have everything you need to cook, eat, and drink. So dont get carried away, just bring one suit case and you will enjoy it alot more!
Have fun 😎

Jen,

You selected an awesome place. We have stayed there a number of times. The pink House (old one) and then also sunset villas west and east thru White Bay. All of the experiences were awesome but there were a few differences. The pink house, is literally on the beach which was great for our older friends who didn't care to make the walk up the hill. The views were both great but Sunset Villas gave you more of a panoramic view and also had a little bit more of a breeze. You can't go wrong either way. The last thing I would say is that if your party is ok with hiking it everywhere, the location of the sunset villas lets you go to great harbor or white bay with minimal effort. Hit Foxys Taboo, Ivans BBQ, the bubbly pool and little harbor as well.

There is no ATM on the Island but most places take credit cards. Frank Chinnery is a terrific host and picked up via water taxi, then transferred us to his car to take us to our villa. He also hung with us many nights. Bring your drinking shoes and your hand/eye coordination for the ring game.

Have Fun

the name of the store is Bobby's Market and can be found at www.bobbysmarketplace.com we love them. You can download the pdf file and print it off. Check off the items you want and then fax it to them prior to your arrival. Tell them when you are arriving. It doesn't hurt to contact them after faxing to make sure they got it and to verify your pickup. If my memory serves me correct there was a very small delivery fee but well worth it. We've done this several times and have no complaints.

If you have other questions please feel free to ask. This will be our 7th year on JVD and can't wait to get back there in Feb.
