Hi Everyone:

We (husband & two kids) got back from our first trip to STT. It was as beautiful as everyone says! We stayed at the Wyndham Sugar Bay which was fine - but we all did get tired of the food there (we did the all-inclusive). We did parasailing & SNUBA. I had posted about looking for a pilot to scatter my father in laws ashes over Reef Bay. That didn't work out so we ended up hiring a Naughty Nymph boat & captain. He took us over to STJ for the scattering (with a stop by the Coast Guard on the way). Then he took us to a snorkeling spot (can't remember which one) and then to Little Cinnamon for some swimming. It was a very nice way to spend the day.

The time went by too fast and I wish we could have spent more time checking out some of the beaches. Smith Bay (formerly Lindquist?) was very nice - we were there late afternoon and only some locals were there. Husband golfed at Mahogany Run and I went with for the day (kids were at the hotel Kids Club).

Hopefully we'll get back and I'll know better what we need to bring (over-packed AGAIN - can leave the hairspray at home, it was useless in the tropics) and what we will want to do!

Before I moved to the islands and we would vacation here I packed SO MUCH STUFF...including hair spray! Now when we have friends visit I tell them what to bring: shorts, shirts, flops, suits, hats, shades, lotion. Nevermind about the hair, let it airdry. And that's that 🙂

This was our first time. Have been to Mexico & Jamaica. Have to say I much preferred STT! I have pictures but have no idea how to post them!

We got back saturday the 21st from STJ. I have never felt so down and out about coming home. We missed our kids but would turn around and go back immediately. The relaxed feelings are impossible to get at home. I hope to do a report and send pictures.

Hi,
I'm trying to plan our first trip there right now! Its going to be my husband, my 14 year-old stepson and myself, and we would like to stay at an all-inclusive. Would you recommend the Wyndham? How old are your kids? I'm concerned my stepson might be bored.
Any suggestions/comments you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 🙂

I had read mixed reviews on the Wyndham and was really worried but is was fine. Our kids are 8 & 11, so younger than your stepson. They were not bored and we didn't leave the hotel as much as we should have. There is so much to see and do but we were really trying to "chill out". The beach at the hotel is OK, snorkeling was not bad. Right at the hotel you can rent waverunners ($90 for a 1/2 hour but it was "guided" - couldn't just take it out by yourself) Coki Beach is very close and was very nice. I had read that there was a path you could walk to get there from the Wyndham but the staff at the Wyndham told me it would be a tough walk, so we drove.

The food was fine but as I said in my post we got tired of the food. I am somewhat of a picky eater, my son is way picky but none of us lost weight! The Manor House restaurant is in the lobby building. Buffet type breakfast with "American" food so that was no problem. This restaurant was not open at lunch but was for dinner. They have about 6 or 8 entree choices for dinner, including seafood and a rib eye. My husband loved the coconut shrimp. The steak was OK but I will admit I am a bit of a snob when it comes to my steak!! There are two restaurants down by the pool. One is casual with buffets for dinner with different themes. The other is a little more upscale, we didn't eat there because the menu would not have suited two of us! Can get burgers, hot dogs & chicken at the poolside grill during lunch.

The drinks were generous but the frozen ones sure melted fast in the sun!

There is a bar/casino that seemed to get busy at night. With the young ones we didn't spend much time there. You can get pizza, chicken fingers, bar food and eat it there or take it to your room.

We had an ocean view room with two double beds. That was difficult because we have a king sized bed at home. The A/C worked great and the staff did a good job of taking care of our room each day.

I would not stay there without the all inclusive. I kept all of our meal & drink receipts and tallied them up when we got home. It was just over $1,000 and we really didn't drink all that much!

Now that we have been to the USVI I would consider a villa for our next visit but this worked good for us this time.

Any more questions feel free to ask!
