Just got back from an awesome vacation in St. John. We stayed in the Fish Bay area and went on several hikes on the island and noticed giant hives in the trees with little tunnels running down the trunks. I was guessing either ants or bees but was too chicken to poke around and a google search is getting me nowhere. Can anyone shed some light as to what creature occupies these giant nests?

Ahhh...that makes sense. I did not see any termites, but plenty of ants and bees though! Those nests are HUGE! Thanks Jim 😎

More than once I've stood up from a beach chair and bumped my head on a branch right on one of their trails...! Never spilt my rum though.
