Hi there all,
We will be traveling to St. Thomas (and visiting Tortola, JVD, St. John and possibly Norman) the first of Sept. It is our 10 year anniversary and has been 10 yrs since last visit. Sapphire Beach used to have live music on the beach but I hear that is no longer. Also, two of our favorite restaurants (Agave and Old Mill) are now closed. So, my questions are: where can find a good romantic Caribbean/seafood meal with ambience or view on STT? Also, live music on the beach (day and night time) in the USVI and the BVI's ?Is there a place for a Caribbean night to partake in? We enjoyed one at Bluebeard's Beach Club last time (and where we will be staying) but it is defunct now. We will be arriving around the time of the New Moon and was curious as to whether there are any parties scheduled during that time? Finally, where is the best place to buy liquors and simple groceries (eggs, bread, sandwich stuff, cheeses)?
Grazi and Thanks to anyone who has info for any of these or all! We are ready to be beachin' it again in the prettiest place in the Caribbean we know!8-)
Karen

Hey, Karen. Your excitement is contagious! 🙂 I've only been to the VI once so I'm no expert, but I can tell you that you can find reggae on the beach on STJ. Inner Visions plays at High Tide every Thursday, I beleive, and they also play at Beach Bar. They play at other locations on the island, but these are two I know they frequent. Have a wonderful trip!

Iggie's at Bolongo Bay Resort has a carnival theme show and buffet every Wed night. That resort also has nightly entertainment.

Latitude 18 Bar and Restaurant on Vessup Beach near the Ritz Carlton has nightly entertainment. Check their Facebook page.

Paradise Point has Wed night sunset party with live Caribbean music.

Island Flava Restaurant in Crown Bay has Cool Sessions band Sunday evenings.

Northside Bistro has nightly entertainment, I think.

There are several others with entertainment, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Sunday evenings at Sapphire Bar and Grill there's live music, mostly jazz, I think.

HullBay Hideaway also has live music from time to time.
Best to call and check who and what - weekend nights, generally but off season right now so best to call.
The food has been really good.

Northside bistro is dinner type music not your jump up and dance stuff.
You can look in the Island Trader entertainment section to see who has what going on.

Yes-I second Hull Bay Hideaway! A laid back spot and you're right there at the beach. We stayed on Hull Bay when we were on STT and loved it.

How about that!? Lots of stuff going on. GREAT! But, would you choose Hull or Northside Bistro for your romantic night out for dinner? Again, we would like a higher end restaurant for that with great seafood, possibly with local flavor/caribbean influence. Thx ALL!

I see Havana blue and Oceana have nice choices for dinner and look to have oceanviews/ambience. Any opinions?

I haven't been to Havana Blue or Oceana, but hear they're some of the nicest on the island? In terms of Hull Bay Hideaway vs. Northside Bistro, definitely Northside Bistro for your romantic night out.

Thanks. I looked up HB and Oceana and both have excellent menus. Looks like HB has better ambience? But, I thought I'd put it out there for comments??

Hull bay is a beach bar but you can have a romantic walk on the beach.
Northside bistro has a better more extensive menu. I am not sure I would classify as romantic.
If you are looking for a Romantic restaurant - Oceana.
If you're looking for good food with a more extensive dinner menu plus dinner type music - Northside Bistro.
If you are looking for a casual atmosphe and good, simple food with jump up and dance music (on occassion) - Hull Bay Hideaway.

Whatever you decide, call first to make sure places are open before driving there, especially on Sunday/Monday evenings and have what you are desire for that occassion. There are lots of other places as well but menu's change as does venue, especially in the doldrums of our late summer months.

Let me just clarify that I said Northside Bistro for "romantic" only becaue the question was Northside or Hull Bay. Of those two, Northside is the "nicer" option although I haven't been there myself and can't vouch for the food or atmoshpere. 🙂 But I'm a huge fan of the laid back Hull Bay vibe for the more casual outings.

Thx....we will check it out, but think Oceana or Havana Blue for our romantic dining experience. Has anyone eaten at Havana Blue?

Havana Blue is my favorite nice night out. The vibe is island style hip. lovely decor. overlooking morning star beach. try to get a table y the deck rail. The food is fabuoulous, you just can't cook like this at home. look up the menu. If your looking for chicken fingures and ceasar sald this is NOT the place. Like any resturant on STT service can be slow at times.Be prepared to sit and dine for over an hour and enjoy the view and sea breszes. This not fast food.
