My husband and I honeymooned on STT in 2006 and stayed at the Wyndham. Last year we returned and rented a villa on the North side of the island. We enjoyed both trips but this year we would like to do something a little different. Maybe a different island? Maybe a different villa?

We really want to be within walking distance to a nice beach with snorkeling. Plus, we both would like something with A/C.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

After visiting STJ for the past bunch of years, we decided to go to a different island this year..............Ireland. Loved it. I'm sure that wasn't what you were thinking.

Maybe a power Yacht charter -- [the AC requirement] --- thru the VI/BVI -- great food -service- scenery - and privacy.

After many trips to STT & STJ we "discovered" STX in '07, returned this year and are planning two trips for '09. Here's a link to some villas managed by a company we think are the the best villa managers on STX:

www.vacationstcroix.com

We've rented D'Estasi for my all-girl getaway trip next April. D'Estasi is full a/c and has a swimmable beach. Hubs and I are still looking for our next villa - we've stayed at Villa Madeleine 1 through Vacation St. Croix (first trip) and EastWinds this past trip (owner managed). There are a lot of nice villas on STX - some with swimmable beachfront.

If you still want to go to STT.......try the Point Pleasant Resort......walking distance to Coki Beach (with good snorkeling).....plus the resort has a small secluded beach of its own. And yes, we have A/C.

Or Hawaii. Our favorite Hawaiian Island is Kauai.

I truly love all the VIs - both US and "B"
Both for different reasons

Explore them all - pick the one you have not been to

My wife and I were lucky enough to spend our first two years of marriage in that part of the world
but her dream.... was the Greek Islands
On our honeymoon, my sweetie said on our 25th annivesary she wanted to be in the Greek Islands

The good news was I remembered and surprised her

Do the VI - All of them

Plan for Greece!

Glad to hear someone recommend the Point Pleasant resort. That's where we are staying in three weeks. Can't wait!

Jeniffer,
What villa did you stay at in STT? One nice thing about staying in STT and/or STJ is that you have LOTS of other islands you can hop to! I have been to STX as well and was amazed at just how different it is as compared to it's other sister islands! It is pretty neat and you can go to the most Southern, most Eastern tip of the United States! I was also surprised at seeing fields of cows and hay! Not typical here! lol!
Keep us posted!

😛 😛 🙂 🙂
Well Sherri, technically I think.... The USVI is territory as is Guam, American Samoa, etc... And of course they are not states. But I do feel that they are part of the United States so using that rule – American Samoa at 14.3 N would be more southern.

As for East – Wake Island be wins with a 166.3 E (Eastern Hemisphere)

However a good trivia question that may get you a free drink one night.

If you only include the 50 United States the most:
Northern is Alaska,
Southern Hawaii,
Western is Alaska, and
Eastern is Alaska
- for it to crosses the international dateline into the eastern hemisphere.

Sometimes they do talk about travel direction, and yes if you left from the 0 degrees line and traveled west then St Croix would be the first point of land in the US and the territories you would hit.

But you know what - who cares because you are in the blue water enjoying the warmth is STX not Alaska…

😉 😉

Sherri,

This is Jeniffer. Remember we talked last year about the North side? We stayed at the fabulous Hull Bay Cottages & ate at the North Drop (with Pierre?? the white poodle). LOL

I think we are leaning towards Cozumel now. We would like to save some money by not needing a vehicle. Nothing is set in stone though. 🙂

TomB You may be right on the Southern but recheck Eastern, Sherri is right. Much hoopla was made about Point Udall being the Easternmost tip of the US. There was actually a special celebration there for the millennium as such.

Hey Jeniffer,
Yes, I Do remember! The dog is still hanging around there! So sorry we won't get you back here is the Vi's, but understand that many people like to try other places. Hopefully you will come back again someday.

Ron, thanx for the back up on at least the eastern thing! TomB, I'm half right!

Well here is a link that will explan it at a high level

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extreme_points_of_the_United_States
and it even addresses the Interpretation of "easternmost" and "westernmost"

So it becomes a matter of interpretation and which method one chooses to determine

My response was tounge and cheeck - so I an not trying to be Mr Right - believe me

I just happend to believe if a point of land is in the Eastern Hemisphere it has to be more EAST than a piece of land in Western Hemisphere. Where does the SUN rise first on the equinox. Becaue we all know the sun rises in the EAST. That is why it is already tomorrow there.

So now we have chatted about Longitude

Let us worry about Lattitude - Lattitude 18 - Open Mic night Tuesday - always fun:-)

I have a vacation home on Water Island, advertised on VINOW under accomodations. Water Island is a different and unique island which is also close enough to STT and STJ to enjoy what they have to offer as well. www.flamingopointusvi.com
