Hello

My wife and I plan to be in St. Croix 1/16-1/25. We are looking for a simple place which is clean and safe. We would like to be within walking distance of a nice beach (with a balcony or patio with a ocean view). We would also prefer to be at least within a short ride from town. A pool would also be nice. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you

Bob

We stay at Cruzan Princess when we stay on STX. The complex is smaller but it does have a pool. There are 4 condos per building and the one we stay in is right on the water. The H2O and Palms are right down the beach and we snorkel in front of the H20 when we don't want to make the trip to Cane Bay. The unit we stay in has no A/C but we don't mind. The breeze is great! We live in Florida and don't use our A/C here either so it doesn't really bother us. The unit is a 2/2 and has a full kitchen with a nice dining area and a great porch. That is where we spend most of our time when we were in the condo. We like the location because it is close to Cane Bay (for snorkeling and beach bars) and The Reef or Buccaneer for golfing. This is the web site and if you do contact them, let Linda know Sandy and Bob sent you. http://www.st-croix-condo.com/

Here I am, Sherri - 😀

Gentle Winds is a very nice condo resort complex on the north shore. Beautiful beach, huge pool. Units are individually owned. Like most places on STX, you will need a car. On the east end, Villa Madeleine is a beautiful condo complex where the units are detached and each 2 bedroom unit has its own private pool. There's a northeast view over Buck Island on the top tier and then a south view over the Divi Resort for the rest of the tiers. I could recommend a couple of villas but you're going in high season so not sure what your budget is like. Our favorite villa rental agent is Marti Gotts at Vacation St. Croix - she also has a 3 bedroom unit at Gentle Winds in her listings. Ask a lot of questions here and on Trip Advisor (where there are also a bunch of folks with STX experience).

Another idea would be to check the time share rental listings on a site like Redweek.com. You don't have to join and pay a fee just to look - if you find one you want to rent then I think there's a nominal fee to become a member. There are some really nice timeshare units across the road from the Divi Resort which rent for a reasonable rate. You would have a pool on the side with the timeshares, then the huge pool and all of the amenities and gorgeous beach of the Divi. Most are two bedroom with kitchenette.

Here are some pix of Gentle Winds and Villa Madeleine:

thanks for the information. A one bedroom is really just fine as well. I realize promity to shops and bars alongwith a nice beach might be tough but we wnat to keep the drivin gto a minimum. Our budget is between 100-150 a night. Thanks

Good Morning Bob,

I thought I would pass along a couple great options for you. I know of 2 great units that the owners rent out themselves that would be available. 1 condo unit is at The Reef and the other condo is at Villa Madeleine.

You can email me directly and I can get photos for you to review! Happy planning!

Have a great day!
Maureen

$100 - $150 a night during January, given your needs, is going to be difficult to find. And If I did find something at that rate I would research very carefully.

Check out Macs Beach House. Here's the link. www.macscaribbeanbeachhouse.com. We stayed there this summer and had a blast. Beach front. Nice owners who live upstairs. Reasonable rates.

Check out Sugar Beach. Ask for Ching Ching who is the receptionist and she will help you find a clean condo . They all have a great view. I would go back Let me know if you need more help. They have a pool and are about 6 mon. from town.

You mentioned Sugar Beach......we were looking at that or a Mill Harbor unit. Are you familiar with that complex also and any advice on either of these.

Donefarming (Maureen) -

I, too, am interested in getting information about the condo unit you mentioned at The Reef. Could you possibly PM me?
