One more week to go and Maria is makin a beeline for the islands. 🙁 I know it's always a crap shoot going this time of year, but it seems this year they are comin one after the other! I don't see anything behind her...but didn't see her comin behind Katia. Any news on any new fronts behind Maria? Everyone please stay safe, hunker down, and always hope for the very best outcome! And we WILL see you next Thursday!! (If I gotta swim there! LOL - as long as there's rum....):@):P

There seems very little to worry about where T/S Maria is concerned. She is moving VERY fast and there is speculation from the NHC that she may well degenerate into a tropical wave before reaching us. Although we'll get some heavy rains from the outer bands, the speed at which she's traveling and the trajectory of the eye many miles to the NE of St John indicate that not only will the rain be of relatively short duration but that the majority of it will fall on open waters.

This year's frequency is quite normal. At this time of year these storms roll off the coast of Africa one after another but to date there is nothing behind Maria. Of course that could change tomorrow but no point worrying about it. Que sera sera!!! Pack lots of sunscreen and insect repellent and rest assured that the supply of rum never diminishes and, if you haven't yet tried them, the Cruzan flavored rums are simply out of this world delicious! Cheers! 😀

Hi STT!
Thanks for the encouragement! I worry too much, I know! Of the 15 years that I've been coming down there, I was only "blown out" one time, and that was in the mid - late 90's. I'm trying not to think TOO hard about it, but another concern is flying out of Atlanta (we fly from Pittsburgh, PA to Atlanta then to the islands). But, you mentioned she may be a tropical wave by the time it reaches you all - so hope she goes **POOF** before next Thursday! I trust your judgement - you all know how these beasties work. You've been through enough of them!!

And you bet I've tried the Cruzan's!! 🙂 Love 'em all - pineapple, coconut and mango are my favorites! Matter of fact, I first tried them some years ago when I was there. When I got back to PA, my liquor store didn't carry them, so I piped up! They sure do have'em now. 😀 And my basement bar in my house has a few flavors stocked as well. 😎 See you in a week! (Just look for the blonde "looks-like-a-tourist" chick covered in sunscreen and smellin like insect repellant! LOL)
