I have been trying to contact White Wing (actually Captain Clark) regarding a possible day sail to Jost in April.

I previously sent an unanswered e-mail.

I, again - just now, tried sending an e-mail to [email protected] & it was just returned undeliverabe.

I also, a couple of weeks ago, left a telephone message.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reach him? Perhaps he has changed his e-mail address.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Last yr I was able to reach him in the evening on his cell at 340-514-6906.
Pls post if you able to reach him because I want to book something with him again soon for mid-April. Thanks.

Thanx, jmq!

It brought a smile to my face to see that the return post was from you.

Needless to say - you are one of the main reasons that I am trying to reach him.

So funny to see that we are both heading back for trip #2 at about the same time. Unfortunately, I think that you are leaving St. John around the 19th (if I remember right) and we are arriving on the 21st.

From what I see, you are planning another great adventure! Have fun on Virgin Gorda. You will love The Baths!

Thank you for the tip - we will keep trying!

Based on my trip report? That's faith! (although others have sung his praise too) What itinerary are you looking to line up?
Yup - we are heading over to Virgin Gorda on the 20th for 4 nites after 8 days on St. John. Hoping to get with Clark to sail the US waters before we head over to BVIs. If we had more time in VG, would do a daysail from there to The Dogs, Cooper Island, etc.

We are planning to get back to Jost Van Dyke & definitely want to stop at Soggy Dollar Bar on White Bay Beach.

White Wing's suggested itinerary for Jost takes in the Bubbly Pool & I think Foxy's. We are trying to see if he could/would amend his trip to include some time on White Bay.

If not - we will probably just take the ferry over for the day.

In that case, we would probably just try to hook up with him for a day sail - maybe one that would take us to Waterlemon via a boat versus swiming out from land (which as I have read, appears to create some challenges - particularly in regard to where to enter the water).

Know that we will probably get something worked out. But, am starting to get a little more anxious as the days are getting closer to our time on the Island.

FYI: We will be spending our last 2 nites at Secret Harbour - will think of you (& your daughter) while we are lounging on our hammocks. (I remember reading that line in your post & was truly touched by your sentiment!)

I also would be grateful if you post any contact info for Clark... we had an excellent day sail last year and are hoping to have another White Wing day during our upcoming trip.

Thanks!

Anything for a fellow New Englander (we live in Pepperell, MA - just over the border from Nashua, NH)

Will keep you posted!

By the way - where did you go on your sail with him? Just curious.

Good day all,

You can best reach Capt. Clark via his cell phone at 340-514-6906. His email / internet connection isn't always functional. When you reach him, tell him his neighbor says hi.

Last year we just did a day sail, staying in USVI waters. We stopped at a number of snorkel spots that would be difficult to reach from the island... one that was actually some ways off the East End, and then we docked in a bay that was near Haulover North, though I'm pretty sure it wasn't Haulover itself. There was a very large, old and almost tame barracuda that lived in the bay that, tameness aside, still nearly scared my wife and I out of our wits when we happened to turn around (in the water) and she was about a foot away from us!!

But Clark was great, it was a fantastic fun day on the water. And he makes a heck of a painkiller or whatever concoction it was that day!

Thank you all for your help.

I did reach Captain Clark by cell phone a couple of evenings ago. He is a really nice man. But, he is in the process of building a house is not scheduling a lot of sails.

He also said that he is no longer doing any BVI trips due to the excessive paperwork that is now involved. He also said that during the last week in April, when we will be there, he will probably only book a couple of day sails in USVI waters & only if he has 4 - 6 people.

So, if we are lucky - maybe there will be another couple looking for a day sail that week & we can schedule a sail together.

So, for our Jost trip - we seem to really be leaning toward just taking the ferry over. This might have cemented the deal.

Happy planning to us all!!

I am not certain if they go to Jost Van Dyke but this web page says they do trips to the BVI. I ended up booking Long Distance for our first trip in April after talking to Captain Clark of White Wing. Long Distance also sails out of Coral Bay. Captain Rick is another really nice man. Captain Rick sails with his wife and said they would rather book a trip with two people than sit at home making no money. Contact Captain Rick directly at (340) 513-1386 so he doesn't have to pay a booking fee. His St.John sailing rates were about the same at White Wings. It's worth a try.

Otherwise we plan on taking the ferry boat over to Jost Van Dyke on 4/14/06. I should have my trip report written before your trip and I can let you know how it works out.

Thank you - I will definitely call them.

It is nice to know that they would schedule a trip with only 2 people.

Captain Clark recommended them to us, as well.

I just looked on their website & they do have great rates & a great choice of times to pick from. I particularly like that they have an extended afternoon sail - for a very reasonable rate!

They have, like White Wing, also decided to discontinue their BVI trips. But, all in all, not a problem - as we are already thinking that we will just look for a leisurely USVI sail for one day and jip over to Jost on the ferry another day. Have heard great things about snorkeling at The Indians - maybe we will be lucky enough to get there with Long Distance.

So nice of you to pass along your info to us!

Have a wonderful trip!
