Plenty to be found here. Depeding on your likes/dislikes, there is someplace different every night. For example, Tuesdays are great at The Greenhouse, in Downtown Charlotte Amalie, cuz it's "Two for Tuesday"...buy one, get two! Lotsa people show up, good music and dance, tasty food. Wednesday is the best day for Paradise Point. Make it up for the sunset and hang out for the drink secials and the band. Don't forget the camera! When they close at 9, head down the hill to The Shipwreck Tavern, eat a huge burger (dynamite!) and party the night away, or head over to the Offshore. Thursday, gotta go East! Duffy's Love Shack is gonna be a hot spot for the next 3 days, so might as well get a good start! You can also walk over to Caribbean Saloon, Molly Malones, Sopchoppy's, XO Bistro and East End Cafe...all within a 2 minute stagger! So Thursday, Friday and Saturday is always a good time on the East end, plus you can always hop on a ferry and head over to STJ and hit some of their hotspots for a coupla hours to see how they compare. And this is just a typical 'touristy' itinerary. Depending on what you're looking for, you might get sent to places like El Cubano, any place on Turpentine Road, Frenchtown, Hull Bay Hideaway, Brooks, who knows. Just depends on what you're looking for. What exactly ARE you looking for in 'nightlife'?

Yummy drinks: Everywhere!
Dancing: Everywhere!
Good music: Here's where your tastes come in. To some people 'good' means club-type dancing music, to others it's raggae, to others it's hip-hop, to another it's steel pan, to others it's Jimmy Buffet-style touristy...what are your tastes?

You will be here for the may full moon.

Look into the various full moon parties.

Budha Bar, Duffy's?, or the real one - Bomba in Tortola!

He had a great time at a place called Latitude 18 when "Lightening Phil" played last week. We went on Monday and Friday night. He also plays there on Saturdays. Say Hi to Captain Ron. This is a casual oceanfront bar/restaurant not connected to any resort on the East End off the road toward the Ritz Carlton. It is hard to find but worth the drive, just watch for the pot holes.

Sopchoppy's in Red Hook has cheap(er) beer and a great view of American Yacht Harbor. Nice breeze, numerous TV's (if you want to catch a game) and awesome pizza, too.

Renee,

I am not good at music reviews but I will give it a shot. On Monday nights "Lighting Phil" is by himself playing acoustical Guitar. He really mixes it up and reminded me most of Simon and Garfunkel. He has a great voice and you can understand all the words. On Friday night there was a mix of people playing along with him. He was joined by two others on guitar, one older guy where they sang great harmony together. A guy was playing base. Another guy came up with his harmonica and they got into bluegrass and the blues. Another guy brought up his wooden box and joined in for a few songs. They even played Elvis and Eric Clapton. People got up from the tables and danced on a wooden platform in front of the stage, which is another wooden platform. We saw people of all ages there. We are in our late 30's if that helps you. This is not a young teenage crowd or for spring break partiers. If you appreciate good music and someone with real talent you will enjoy "Lighting Phil". Phil loves playing his music and it shows. The crowd was friendly, funloving and casual. This is an open air bar so remember your bug spray.

One other place to check is in the Island Trader that comes out as a supplement to the VI Daily News on Thursdays. If you go to the VI Daily News website you can see the current issue. Towards the back of the publication is a listing of live music for the week.

Good news Nick,
You will be hard pressed to find a place in Red Hook with expensive beer. Unless you stumble way out of the way to the Ritz Carlton chances are you will pay anywhere from $1 to maybe $3 for beer.
