local story has more info, in case anyone's interested, here is the link to the first bona fide news "source" as it unfolded: http://www.onepaper.com/stthomasvi/?v=d&i=&s=News:Local&p=1223618647

people from here and abroad also discussed extensively on facebook, so if you are a fb member (it's free), become a fan of wtjx and see pics, plus the comments of local residents.

I could not believe my eyes when I read the news about Mountain Top. Growing up on St. Thomas, we would go most Sundays. And now when I visit, which is once or twice a year, I go and have me a few of the world best daiquiris. It just won't be the same. I hope they have plans to rebuild. It's a famous landmark of St. Thomas, USVI

I hear somebody wants to build condos on that site. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Gotta love island gossip! The FD hasn't even determined yet what caused the fire and already rumors are circulating about what caused it and what the plans are for the site. I've heard some REALLY good ones the last couple of days. Cheers!

It sounds as if this disaster brought out the best of all to bring it under control.
