We're looking at a flight from NH to STT via Philadelphia. There's about 40 minutes between flights. One flight arrives at terminal F, the other departs from terminal A. I looked on the PHL website and it looks like quite a hike. I seem to remember that some terminals there require you to take a bus between them, so expect that's the case here.

If anyone has made a connection between these two terminals, I'd be interested to know if you think 40 minutes is enough time(assuming the arriving flight is on time, of course).

The alternative is to take a later flight, but that would entail a wait of over 2 1/2 hours between flights. I'd rather spend that extra 2 hours in STJ if I can.

Thanks,

WW

I assume both flights are on USAir? There is a shuttle that runs every few minutes between terminals. You should be able to make it. You can also walk but you have to go through security again.

Don't try to walk it...it's way too far. Make sure you ask somebody when you get there how to get the shuttle and go from there.

We RAN from terminal A to F after our arrival from BOS was late. We had two kids in tow - I had never pushed a stroller that fast before! Anyway, we made it in about 10 minutes, so it is possible - but not recommended 🙂 I wish I had thought about the shuttle.

Thanks. We'll definitely take the shuttle. Our flight gets in just before 7AM and leaves at 7:40 on a Saturday. Hopefully, there won't be any delays on the first flight that early on a weekend morning.

99 days and counting!!

Flights from the west coast are often early, assuming there are any good tailwinds. And if there are weather delays in PHL, chances are it will affect your connecting flight too.

Just check and recheck your flights regularly before your trip. USAir has been changing their schedule a lot lately. Our flights to STT have changed 3 times in past few weeks.

But will your check-in luggage be able to make it? If it is the same airline (automatic baggage transfer) it could be very close. Agents usually say you should leave an hour in between flights. If you are going with two different airlines and must claim your luggage....forget about it.

Our luggage made it - and our flight was so late, we had no time to make the connection. Both legs were USAir, and they did tell us before our first leg landed that they were holding the PHL-STT flight for us (USAir has done this several times for me in the past - always very much appreciated!). We made tracks to our connecting flight feeling very lucky to make it, but never expecting the luggage to. We were quite surprised to receive all of our bags in STT - first off the plane and onto the conveyer as well 🙂

Thanks VB. We always go with carry-on only. A couple pairs of shorts, undies, sandals, swimsuits, shirts, and toothbrush/shaving gear and that's about it. Makes for a less stressful time.

An added benefit...last year we were able to change to any earlier flight home right at the gate. If we had checked our luggage they weren't going to do it. Saved us a couple of hours sitting in PHL on the return trip.
