Here goes:

Leave Saturday, should arrive appx 1:30 pm (still not sure which ferry to take to STJ)

Staying at Battery Hill Condos in Cruz Bay

Trunk Bay on Sunday (no cruise ships scheduled, so I'm really hoping weather cooperates)

Snuba Diving on Monday morning at Trunk (our son REALLY wanted to do this). This is about a 2 hour deal, so we'll just do whatever else comes to mind for the rest of the day.

No plans for Tuesday. Again we'll just play it by ear. We rented a jeep for the week, so...

Wednesday is "Capt. Phil" day on The Wayward Sailor. After reading all the posts about him here, we can't wait to meet him. He sounds like such a nice person. We think he'll be great, especially for our 10 yr. old.

Thursday is The Baths at Virgin Gorda on Stormy Petrel/Pirate's Penny. Just couldn't resist this one, again after reading trip reports, etc.

Absolutely no plans for Friday.

Saturday, we return home - I DON'T even want to think about that.

I know, I know - I might sound just a little too organized (I'm really not), but these are all things I've been looking forward to for a very long time. And if things get changed around while we're there, that's ok too. I've promised myself that nothing will induce any stress on this vacation!

So I'd really like to say thanks to everyone for all the great info I've gotten from this board! You guys are the best & I WILL post the After-Trip Report as soon as I get over my depression when we come home 🙂

Sounds somewhat organized but not "uber-ly" so. You do have a couple of "free" days in there! I'm sure you and your family will have a blast! Can't wait for your trip report, although that will mean that you're back 🙁

Geri, We do the same thing before each trip. We obsessively plan each day, down to what restaurant we'll eat at. Then once we get there, most of the plans go out the door, but it's fun to plan. It's helps pass the time and get you even MORE psyched up (if that's possible)! Have a super trip.

Thanks guys!!!

And you're right, I've had a lot of fun "planning" things. That's me - all husband & son do is say "that sounds cool" 🙂

Congratulations peaceluv!!! On what beach is the wedding?

We've been married 13 years - think I'll have to talk the husband into renewing vows on STJ, maybe for the 15 yr. anniversary.

sounds like a good plan. during last of 5 trips to stj since 0ct 04, only trip off stj was on pirates penny to vigin gorda, copper island for lunch & the indians. super trip!

the only unfortunate thing about the current excitement, the real thing is better than expected THUS YOU SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE LOOKING AT PICTURES OF PAST TRIP(S), READING CHAT BOARDS ABOUT THE ISLANDS ANDS ADVENTURES OF OTHERS AND PLANNING NEXT TRIP! WHAT A CURSE.

ENJOY

It is a very full schedule. Be sure to take some time to nap, float, sit, watch the night sky, listen to the sounds of the tropics. . We like to take plenty of time to do very little. We've been out with Phil Chalker and you couldn't have made a better choice. He's excellent with new snorkelers. We never got to the BVI until our third trip to STJ. We had planned to go sooner, but there was so much we wanted to see and do on STJ that we never got off the island.

Hi dragonlover....we too are leaving on Saturday. Leaving from Boston and should be in Paradise by 3:30PM We're bringing 3 daughters (40ish) and 6 granddaughters.... 2 are 15 years, 2 are 11, and 1is 10. We are staying on St Thomas but will be headed over to STJ most days. I also have planned this trip to the minute, but don't care if we do nothing but swim and snorkel. The girls want to go para-sailing, but nothing else is edged in stone. Have a great time, as I know we will

Hi Geri,
We too are arriving Saturday at 1:35 on Delta. The Red Hook ferry at 3 will get you into Cruz Bay before the downtown ferry arrives. 3:20 vs 3:45. So we are going to Red Hook.
Counting down the minutes now....

Congratulations on the wedding! Ours is today (not mine, but my daughter's) in Concord, MA.

We leave on Thurday as well - after all the wedding planning I need a vacation too! Can't wait!

Gotta go get my hair done now...

Good thread......

Dragonlover, you've taken trip reports to the next level with the pre-trip report. I used to be compulsive about planning, research, etc until I learned that once I arrive in the VI, I don't feel like sticking to anything previously planned 😉 Though not compulsively, I still plan anyway! The only thing more fun is being there! I am glad to be in the good company of you and others like ByRequest1.

papabou is right on about the vicious cycle and travel and travel planning. I believe the only cure for the post-trip blues is the planning of the next trip! There's my prescription.

Hey ccasebolt, congrats!!! I'm sure your daughter is married by the time I am writing this....what a nice day for you!

gobucs, I LOVE STT!!! The board sometimes seems to be filled with STJ travelers. I've stayed on both and could be absolutely spellbound on either. STT has beaches and areas just as remote, quiet and tropical as STJ....but you have to make that fateful left turn and get over the mountain to find it. Many STJ visitors never take that left, so they only see the more cosmopolitan side of STT. That's akin to assuming that Lake Geneva is just like Chicago....NOT!
