*We would like to arrange for a tour of the rainforest, while in St. Thomas. We will be arriving in St. Thomas at the dock by about 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5th, 2003. We understand that St. John is 2/3 rain forest. Would you be able to provide us with a recommended tour guide and an idea of cost, scheduling and duration.

Thanking you in advance.

The U.S. Park Service offers guided hiking tours on St. John two days a week. I believe they are on Mondays and Thursdays. They also offer seminars about the park almost everyday. I beleive there are also commercial operators that offer guided tours for a much higher price.

I wouldn't exactly call St. John a rain forest. The tour would include several beaches, some description of local flora and fauna, and a visit to the Annaberg Ruins. The closest thing to a rain forest could be the Reef Bay trail, that has a spring leading down to a pond, where the petroglyphs are located.

Susan,
I think someone gave you some partially incorrect information. St John is 2/3 national park, not 2/3 rain forest.

Hello Susan,

For a tour on St. John you can try http://www.hikestjohnvi.com/ they offer tours for hiking through the National Park on St. John.

Perhaps you should look through the St. John guide and look at the photo album tour of St. John (both are on this web site, use the top and side naviagation bars to access them) so that you get an idea of what St. John is like.
