My fiance & I are planning our first trip to St. John in November. We want to stay at a villa/house. Does anybody have any recommendations for a nice 1 or 2 bedroom villa? I think we want to stay near the Cinnamon Bay or Trunk Bay area. Any help you can offer would be great! Thank you!

We have stayed at the peter bay gatehouse that is between trunk bay and cinnammon campground and is perfect for newlyweds. check out the pictures at vacationvistas.com.

Hello Rachel,

Click on this link https://www.vinow.com/stjohn/accommodations/ and check out some of the options listed. The villa sites will have multiple properties shown.

check out mclaughlin/anderson villa rentals. they are dependable, friendly, courteous, attentive to detail and very helpful--esp. for first time renters. we have dealt with them several times, and we are thoroughly satisfied with their service.
for much more info on the stj villas they handle, go to: mclaughlinanderson.com
this site provides videos, pix, rates, available dates, etc. etc. on all villas they rent.

Thanks for your reply....The Peter Bay Gatehouse is one that we are seriously considering. It looks very nice. I always prefer the opinion of someone who has stayed there rather than a travel agent. When you stayed there, did you rent both the top & bottom floors or just one of them? Which would you recommend? Also, from what I have read, it sounds like it doesn't have a/c....was that a problem or not really? Was it in the gated peter bay community or outside of it? I apologize for asking so many questions...I just want this vacation to be great! I'll take any info you can offer!

Rachel--we have stayed at the gatehouse twice. We rented the upper the first time and it was great. I had never rented a villa before and did not know what to expect. The view is gorgeous and we never missed air conditioning, but being from WI in winter any fresh air is nice when it is outside. The drive from Cruz Bay is beautiful and relaxing. The next year we rented the lower suite and our friends that came with us stayed in the upper. The only difference between the two is the upper does not have a full oven. It has a toaster oven and microwave. this was not an issue with me. We ate out only lunch to conserve money. There is a step leading to the bedroom area upstairs that is not there downstairs. I liked the shower better downstairs. This year we stayed again with the friends but we were on the chocolate hole side of the island. The rental had nicer features with a pool and hot tub built in rather than the soft side but i missed being at the gatehouse and we will go back there next year. The breezes were better there that this years location. The table we ate at upstairs was out on the deck rather than inside. There is a better inside and outside table downstairs. I would rent either again.
