we`re headed to paradise the 2nd week of june and staying near the east end. I would appreciate suggestions for restaurants, both near the east end and Charlotte Amalie. It`s always fun going to restaurants where the locals hang out, especially for seafood or local cuisine.

Tim,
Always stay on the east end and there are plenty of options in Red Hook and near by for you. They range from casual to a little more upscale. East End Cafe aka Pesce is a very nice Italian restuarant. Duffys always a fun time. Bambooze is a great bar with awsome burgers, say hi to bar tender Gusss. Fish Tales is good. Mahogany Grill is very good for steaks. Lobster Grill is great at Bolongo Resort. And lastly Agave Terrace at Pt. Pleasent is a very good upscale restaurant. Hope that helps.

Frenchtown is well worth the visit for the many restaurants all within walking distance and easier parking than Red Hook. Hook,Line Sinker -- frenchtown Deli - Epernay - Bella Blu - Pie Whole - Betsys - Craig and Sallys - Enkai - Oceana - very much the local dining option except for the far East End cognoscenti.

Hey, thanks for the reply and suggestions. I look forward to trying as many as possible. It`s been 15 yrs since I visited St. Thomas last. A trip I`ll never forget considering we met Hurricane Marilyn! Thanks again

If you want to rub elbows with the locals, try Toad & Tart Thus.-Sun. It's on Smith Bay Road near the turn off for Coki. Good food at a moderate price.

Don't miss the conch chowder at Molly Malone's, Red Hook....many locals there, great burgers and onion rings too but the conch chowder is where it's at!
