Coral World park on St. Thomas is applying for a permit to construct a Dolphinarium to offer swim with the dolphin encounters and performances. If you are opposed to the exploitation of marine mammals for entertainment in the US Virgin Islands, and the potential environmental impact of this proposed open water facility, please sign the petition at the following link:

For the record I am giant proponent of reef preservation and wild life protection. That's why I LOVE Coral World. Over the years Coral World and their team of marine science experts have led many conservation efforts in the region including reef restorations, a seahorse project, sea turtle rescue and release. Coral Worlds main mission provides educational and conservation programs. Before adding your name to the petition, I'd advise finding out more about the project's goals. I'd just hate to see a project that actually rehabs sea life stopped short because not all the facts are understood. I'm waiting to find out exactly what is planned and exactly where the site will be located and what provisions are in place for the protection of marine mamials.

blu4u,
I think that you offer great advice. I visited the site that is linked in the OP to read the petition and I find very little information about what Coral World plans to do with this permit. I would like to know more before lending my name to a movement I know so little about. I believe that being an advocate for thepreservation and humane treatment of animals and sealife is a worthy cause but I know little about the people behind this petition nor the plans of Coral World. I would like to know more about both. Perhaps vidolphinvoices will return and grace us with more than the single post regarding this petition. I welcome any factual information that anyone else can offer as well.

Toes, I agree with you and blu. There's too little information for me to feel comfortable signing this petition.
