I'm thinking of staying at Cinnamon Bay during the low season. Any idea when hurricane season is? And are there certain times when the bugs may be harder to deal with. I'd hate to get there and not be able to camp because of the bugs.

Thanks for your help!

Pam

Hurricane season is from June 1st to November 30th...however there HAVE been storms before and after this time, just not very often. Within that six month time-frame officially titled "Hurricane Season", the peak is August and September...regarding bugs...they breed year-round here, but are especially bad after heavy rains leave puddles and standing water, where they breed. Check the weather forecast, but beware...EVERYDAY it has showers listed...ALL YEAR! Pay attention to the percentages...under 50% means it might rain on the part of the island you are on, over 50% means it WILL rain on you at some point. Use bug spray and you'll be fine.

We like the warmer water in the Fall. We've had our worst bugs in April and November after heavy rains. If you look at the highest precipitation months they are going to be your worst bug months.
