I Just knew my luck was going to run out.

Have a question for those more experienced traveling then me. If spirit airlines, goes on strike dose Midnight mean 12 am Saturday June 12 th , or 12 pm. IN other words we leave for home on the 12th. Are we out of luck and not to be mean, STUCK on STJ trying to arrange transportaion home on the 12.th, our plane leaves at 1 pm on the 12th. I work as a nurse and 12 pm is 12 noon ( middle of the day) Midnight is 12 am, one second after Friday 11:59 pm.

Anyone help me.

Thank you for posting this or I wouldn't have even heard about it. I've read the news articles now and it appears if they go on strike it will be 12:01am on June 12th, so that would affect all June 12th flights and likely leave us all stranded. I'm also flying out of STT through Spirit on the 12th. Granted, I would prefer to get stuck on the island than stuck at home in Chicago, this delay would cause major issues for us.

Hopefully they will work everything out and get us all home as scheduled.

I didnt hear anything about any of this. Hopefully someone will have there ears on trying to pick up on strike news for all the airlines that will fly into STT and out. Wow this is really bad. I feel bad for the people now affected by this.

Spirit is not recognized by other airlines. So my guess would be that you are SCREWED. But I may be wrong.

I called Spirit Airlines customer service this morning, and they were no help of course. All they can do is repeat a statement issued by Corporate which states they PLAN on continuing service. When you ask for more specific details they simply repeat the statement over and over.

I should have gone with my initial instinct and booked with another carrier.

Barbie:

The strike "may" happen....who knows? I hope in your case it doesn't.

I used to recommend Spirit, but no longer.

They have become a "goofy" airline. They advertise low fares (if you're a $9 Club Member)...when you sign up you typically can't get those fares when YOU want to fly. They continuously charge your credit card for membership, each year, even if you don't want to "renew" membership. Their EXTRA fees are ridiculous....extra charges for checked bags, charges if you want to book your seat ahead of time, a fee to book your flights on-line or on the phone, a new fee starting in August for a carry-on bag......It seems that I never know what my final cost will be......

So I book on Continental.....and avoid any surprises.

I'm done with Spirit. By the time you add up all the fees (for most of the fees Spirit tries to market as "customer choice"), their seating isn't comfortable (well, NO airplane seats are what I would call comfortable in coach but Spirit is the least comfortable IMHO) and their airplanes, at least the ones in the southeast, are pretty ratty...................I'm done with them.

Well at least I have a week to enjoy the sun and fun. I have travel insurance so that may help at some point in time down the road if we get stuck. I just may have to call work from STJ and say have someone cover my shifts. AHHH,

I'm a pilot for Spirit. If a contract agreement is not reached by 11:59:59 PM June 11th we are walking off the job and parking the airplanes where they sit.

Spirit made more money than any other US airline last year with only 28 airplanes and we have been without a new contract since 2006. The company's last offer to the pilot group was that we take a 50% cut in pay...hope you will support the pilots!

Thanks!

No one should have to take a 50% pay cut so of course you have a lot of support. We wish you luck in the negotations but we also love to visit our beuatiful St. John and hope that you work this out so we can continue to enjoy the most beautiful place we know.

I wouldn't work for a 50% pay cut either. Especially if the company if making record money. that's not really fair. Good luck hope you get up in the air soon.

Go Pilots!!!!!! I flew Spirit 1 time and had nothing but headaches on return trip from NYC. I told the agent to call security so I could speak to a manager after being told that I had to pay more for pre purchased bags that day. Plus I had to file a complaint with my credit card company and the BBB of Florida to stop charges for the 9$ fare club. Spirit refused to unenroll me. I wonder when they are going to put in pay toilets with timers?

I completely understand why Spirit wants to go on strike; however, what about those of us who booked and paid for our flights months ago?! My husband and I are planning to spend our 5 year wedding anniversary in the US VI and we can't afford to purchase more airline tickets! All we can do, I guess, is pray that Spirit agrees to a new contract so that our vacation doesn't get ruined!
