My family of 5 has an upcoming trip that includes staying in STT for 2 days and then a week in STJ. We are not interested in taking a jeep from STT to STJ as we already have a Jeep available to us in STJ. What we'd like to do is pick up a rental vehicle when we arrive at the airport in STT and then drop it off 2 days later at the ferry terminal at Red Hook. Is anyone aware of rental companies that might offer such an option? I inquired with one company and they were not able to accomodate. Rather than call or email all of them, I figured I'd give this forum a try.

Warm Regards

Doubt they'll want to do that but you might get them to take you to the downtown ferry instead. Give yourself ample time for this as the downtown ferry doesn't run every hour on the hour. Dependable Car (www.dependable.com) is closer to the downtown ferry. You might check with them. Good service as well.

Here's the ferry schedules:

Your other option might be to drop your family off at Red Hook, return the rental and catch a taxi back out to Red Hook or downtown, sans luggage which would be cheaper.

Why not take the rental over to STJ and save yourself this aggregation?
You're going to need wheels on STJ and Dependable does allow their vehicles over on the car barges. Not all of them do so best to check.

Thank you for the quick reply and information. I will look into the downtown ferry as this might be out best solution.

I thought about dropping the family of at red hook, returning the rental, and then catching a taxi back, but that's pretty low on the list of ways I'd like to spend a couple hours of my vacation. We might also forego the rental on STT altogether and just use taxis for 2 days.

We already have a Jeep reserved for us on STJ as part of the owner's club we belong to.

Thanks again!

Rent the car. Taxis for 5 will probably cost you more in long run.

Good to know. So we could get it picked up at the Bolongo and take a taxi to Red Hook. Might be a good option. Thanks!

EZ Rental located at Anchorage could also work well for you. Check with them

Check with EZ Car Rental as mentioned above. I have used Andre many times over the past 10 years. He might be able to pick you up at the airport and then you could return the car to Anchorage (right outside of red hook) then taxi back or ask Andre for a lift. Enjoy your vacation.

Tried EZ, but they won't pick up at airport.

Looks like I'll drop off family at redhook, take back rental and catch downtown ferry to meet them at STJ.

Thanks all!
