Hi I was wondering if anybody could tell me how far Trunk Bay Beach is from Charlotte Amalie St.Thomas and what would be the best way to get there? Also is there any really nice beaches in St. Thomas. What would u suggest we see when where in St. Thomas this is our 1st visit there.
Thank You MRossetti

About ten miles?

Get off the ship and take the ferry to ST John, someone will point it out. Then get a cab to Trunk bay. You will love it.

Are you a cruise passenger or staying on St. Thomas?

I appreciate your question because I am wondering the same. I'm going on a cruise in January of 2009 and I definitely want to go to Trunk Bay from St. Thomas. I recently cruised to St. Thomas and I would recommend Magen's Bay for quiet solitude and beauty. A small snack stand offers "cheeseburgers in paradise". There are no chairs available so you'll need a beach towel.

James - are you mixing up Magens with another beach? Although the far left of the beach is quiet even on busy cruise ship days, the main area is a throng of visitors on those days. The concession restaurant and the bar are good-sized and there are chairs to rent (kayaks and those paddle boat things too!)

Personally I love Magens but definitely "keep left" for that peace and solitude.

As far as a trip to Trunk Bay from STT, the cruise ship will offer an excursion there which might be an option to going it alone. Whether your ship docks at Crown Bay or Havensight, a trip to Trunk Bay entails a combination of taxis on both ends and the STT/STJ ferry so for a one-day cruise ship stop it's often more expedient to take the offered excursion. Cheers!
