Hello! my boyfriend & i are planning a trip in July to STJ. We have been to STX & STT (only for the day by cruise) so we are pretty excited about seeing STJ! We will be stayin in Coral Bay. I have heard theres not much to do in the evenings in the summer bc that is their "off" season. We just like to have some good food, drinks & maybe a live band ever so often. Does anyone know if there are any bands playing in the summer? We like to hike, explore, eat local food, snorkel, etc. Restaurant suggestions, beach suggestions and any travel tips would be helpful. We would also like to visit the BVI by ferry while we are vacationing. Any recommendations as to which island to visit & what to do while we are there?? Thanks so much!

Suggested Coral Bay restaurants:
Miss Lucy's Sunday brunch and or dinner if they haven't closed for the season Jazz for Sunday brunch
Island Blues and they have entertainment sometimes
Shipwreck and they have entertainment sometimes
Skinny Legs
Sweet Plantains

Cruz Bay Restaurants:

Waterfront Bistro
The Balcony
La Tapa
The deli in the fancy shopping area.
Morgan's Mango

For hiking and beach info get the book St. John Feet, Fins & Four-Wheel Drive. I think there may be some info on this board about how to get the book. The author is Pam Gaffin.

We have friends who took the ferry to Tortolla, and that worked fine for them. We didn't go because we had already vacationed there and prefer St. John. But, we do like to go to the little island of Jost Van Dyke. We have always stopped there while on a day boat trip. I have learned that there is also a ferry to Jost and will maybe do that the next time. We tried to take the ferry to Virgin Gorda, but they didn't have enough people going the day we drove into Cruz Bay from Coral Bay and so then they don't stop at St. John. Won't try that again. Have been on a day boat trip to Virgin Gorda to see the "Baths". Once was enough for me and I've been twice, but it is a place many people want to go.

Enjoy.
