We have been going to St Thomas for 9 years now, and have only had one bad incident. As with any vacation you need to make sure you are aware of your surroundings.

There is nowhere I wouldn't' go on St Croix during the daytime. I'm a little uncomfortable at nite on the backstreets of C'sted and F'sted. Be aware of your surroundings. St Croix is a great place. But even great places have their share of scum.
