*can you rent a boat from St. Thomas and go to the baths without having to deal with customs.
And do you know how many nautical miles they are apart.

Yes, you can rent a boat, but no, you can't enter British Virgin Islands waters and return without clearing BVI and US Customs respectively. As far as distance, you're looking at roughly 25 miles from Red Hook, which is or is not a challenge depending on the size of the seas that day and of course the size of the boat you rent and your skill as a pilot.

If you're not a fairly experienced boater, it's easier to just take one of the many day trips offered, then the skipper handles the customs and navigation tasks while you relax with a cold one!
