Good Evening.... I hope everyone is well. We will be in the USVI for 8 days the second week in Dec. Staying at Secret Harbour. I wanted to spend at least one of them checking out the BVI. Jost Van Dyke is a must. Would love to go to the Soggy Doller and get a pain killer:). Head over to Foxy's and enjoy some fire water:P. Then over to White Bay and the campground. I've heard the Saturday night jam session is very cool. Being a musician, I think this could be very interesting. One problem...ferry schedules. I was thinking about getting a cabin at the White Bay Campground. This would alow us to explore Tortola, and possibly Virgin Gorda and the Baths. Then continue on to Jost. I was wondering what the cabins are like. Do the cabins have electricity? What are the restroom facilities like? Is this a good idea. Tell me what you think. We've already paid for a condo on STT for the entire stay, is it worth the xtra $$ to spend a night on Jost. Any insight on this would be helpful. Thank you for your time......Quig

We looked this up once and if I remember correctly, the facilities are minimal but very cheap. Maybe its changed since our last research into it. The experience sounds like it's worth it though- what's a couple of extra bucks for a memorable trip in Paradise. Foxy's is terrific, we met him 5 years ago, terrific event! Stay, enjoy, live without the hairdryer for a night and you'll be happy.

Go for it. I slept on the beach of Great White Bay about 5 nights on a kayaking trip. We slept on the beach in a tent at Ivan's. You can camp at the campground at Ivans stress free bar area. Actually a tent is better than the cabins. The cabins are not much, I don't think there were screens when I was there. I wander if you could rent a tent from Big Planet or somewhere. The bathing facilities...well there are a few of those "sun" bags lying around..you fill those with water from the cystern and lay it in the sun...then a few hours later you can take your shower in the 3 sided open to the public shower. Primitive.
This is definitely livin on island time.

yes a great idea..although trying to explore tortola, virgin gorda and jost in one day would be quite difficult..a day on jost is heaven..i've stayed at Ivans..(a nicer man is hard to find)in the cabins. they are very BASIC but do have electricity and screens. you do get pillows and sheets. bathroom facilities i thought we're cleaner than most campgrounds i've been to in the states/shower is private..mostly.white bay is so beautiful !! you must spend a night, a day trip just doesn't give you the full adventure.maybe your next trip you'll just do the bvi's or as i do i split between st. john/jost/tortola..best to plan more than a week if doing 3 islands. these 3 islands are very laid back(jost being the most ld), never need to dress up and the natural beauty is stunning!! you'll never want to go back to st.thomas!!!check this site and call and make a reservation www.ivanscampground.com have a great vacation !!!

Good Evening...As always, I hope everyone is well. Thank you so much for your responses. They have all been very usefull. I will be sure to get in touch with Ivan to make a resevation. RODY, I think you're right, three islands in one day would be to much. One MUST be on Island time(can't wait for that:D) And thank you so much for you're wonderfull input. You have been very helpfull. BLUWATER thank you also for your response. However your pics did not come through, so I will try to contact her via e-mail. Sumerwaters, I will contact you via e-mail to find out what brand of insect repellent you were using.:) By the way, what brand of insect repellent works best in the VI. And last but not least, Karrie. Thank you also for yor input. You are absolutly right. What is a couple of extra bucks for a memorable side trip in paradise. Again thank you all so much for your time......Quig
