Planning a trip to Jost via St. thomas and was checking out the ferry schedule and noticed the only direct ferry available is from Red Hook to Jost with very limited departures - i dont have much faith in catching a 2 pm ferry to Jost with the typical afternoon air arrival into STT. Is the website correct or does anyone know of other options or other ferries not listed. Thanks in advance, vaheel

The schedule as listed above is correct so if you're arriving on STT in the PM you can't make a 2PM direct connection to Jost on the scheduled days and would have to overnight on STT. What you can do is check the ferry schedule into Tortola from either CA or Red Hook and then see what connections are available from Tortola to Jost at www.bestofbvi.com/info/bviferry_tortola_jost.htm

Hopefully that will work with your flight plans.

Thanks. I was under the impression that the ferry stopped running out of Charlotte Amalie to Tortola - do you still catch it on Veterans Drive in front of the Windward Passage?

No, it's still running and location is correct. You may be thinking of the summer cut-back on service to St John from CA when one of the boats was down for service. You'll find the number for the operators on the ferry schedule so give them a call as your departure time gets closer just to be sure that there are no changes.

You could always rent a private water taxi like Dolphin Taxi and get there when you want to! We've used them in the past and they are great. They'll pick you up at the airport take you to their boat then clear customs and over to Jost.

Make sure you have enough time between arrival, getting luggage and waiting for a taxi to take you to your desitination to catch the ferry if going to STJ or Tortola from the downtown ferry dock. Good Luck and Have FUN!

i actually rather like this suggestion. takes the guess work out of a close schedule. why risk losing your first day of vacation? if you can swing it, this is a great idea.
