Good Morning,

I know rain is frequent in the VI, but I was wondering if there should be any concern regarding Tropical Storm Twelve that is showing up on the radar? I am thinking it will hit the VI around Sunday or Monday? Appreciate any input!

All the computer models show this weather going far north of us. But one never knows.

What models do you look at?

Thank you both! I couldn't agree more ariusdax! We have been in Aug, Dec, and now this time Sept. A smidge nerve racking, but the prices are so much friendlier. Nothing a little trip insurance can't cure! *-) I hope you enjoy your trip and the weather holds out!

Same for you! I've been going down to the island for more than 10 years now, and only got wiped out one time. Fingers and toes crossed! Hope you all have a lovely, awesome weather good time!:@)

We arrive on 9/7

What on earth can we do if the weather is bad?

I know we are there to rest..but I signed on for fun too.

Guess I should pack some movies and popcorn. My fault for choosing September 🙁

You are probably over reacting. IF the storm affects us, it should be for only hours, not days, afterwhich you can go about the business of having fun. If it is a major hurricane and will be here during that time, you will not be able to get here anyway.

Totally edited -- Katia looks like it is going north of us but, in any case, will be long gone before you get here in 8 days. I wouldn't worry.

Jennybug,
If you are curious as to what to do if the weather permits you from being outside, you should start a new post. Ric, I think it looks like it will go north too, but my travel dates are not the same as Jennybugs. Our crew will be there from 9/2-9/6, so we may a little of this. I mean the worst that can happen is we get stuck on the island 😉 Regardless, I am sure we will still have a great time! Hopefully Katia doesn't turn into anything crazy and just goes about her business elsewhere.

Looked at the weather again this am - there is a 60% chane on the 7th and 50% on the 8th. Instead of saying there is a 50% chance of rain...I'm going to say there is a 50% chance of SUN.

When you haven't taken a vacation in 3 years you tend to over react.

When we came on our honeymoon in Dec/Jan it said 60% or so every day and I was DEVASTATED by the forecast, but we just had little showers, maybe 10 minutes long each day. 60% means the chance it will rain, don't let it make you think it will rain 60% of the day or anything horrifying like that. Our honeymoon trip there was our first real vacation in 5 years so I was so upset by the forecast, but was very happily surprised when we got there. Don't let it get you down! You will still have a great time!!!

I agree Chris! We got FRIED our last day even though there was overcast. We did a day sail and I think the free painkillers killed our sensors and we didn't realize how fried we were getting. When we went out for dinner that night, we stopped and asked a local for directions. When my husband took off his sunglasses the guys expression was PRICELESS and he said "Holy shit man, your face! You look like Jim Carry off of The Mask!" Probably one of our best / funniest memories! So YES - USE THAT SUNSCREEN!

Thanks - I need to STOP worrying. The worry fairy came by my house twice & from what I can gather, ran the titty fairy out of my neighborhood altogether. lol

Storm Twelve (now Katia) is definitely heading North of the island:) Just got back last night and it's just as beautiful as ever!!!

We really like stormpulse.com for storm identification and tracking (data provided by NOAA National Hurricane Center) - gives all the forecast models and cloud formations (just click on the toggle buttons on the top right-side of the image).
