I can't remember the name of this little restaurant we went to...it was right off the ferry dock, to the right, facing the water, nestled between others.. There was a big bar outside and they had the best vegetarian wraps I've ever had. I think the name may have been a play on words, but i don't remember. To get to the bathroom you had to go through an ally and part of the kitchen. Do any of you know what place I'm talking about?

I'm thinking that you might mean the place that used to be Rumbalaya, which has a new name that I don't know. We didn't have wraps and I don't remember anything about their bathroom. I do fondly recall sitting at a table by the rail which gave us great views of both the harbor and the scene at the ferry dock.

If you are thinking of the old Rumbalaya, it's now called High Tide.

Hi - yes, it sounds like the place Lex mentioned that used to be Rhumbalaya and is now called High Tide. It is oceanside, and next to Pannini I believe.

I have often wondered why with such a prime location, that the restaurant was not better managed, staffed, and presented a better menu. The setting is great, but the food leaves much to be desired. I have not eaten there since High Tide took over, but last July it didn't look like it was doing much business.

I'd be interested in any reviews on High Tide.

I've eaten there, and I'd say there are so many better restaurants to spend your money at. The food is just "eh"...nothing excitingly fabulous.

We haven't been there since it ceased to be Rumbalaya, but even then I don't think we ever ate there. It was just a great spot to stop to have a drink. We'd get a table at the rail and hang out. It's a wonderful location.

Ditto Lex!

My wife and I love getting drinks there, especially before eating at the Lime Inn! A couple of times we got drinks waiting for the ferry to St. Thomas also. It's such a simple experience, but priceless when you know things like that can't be recreated stateside.

One thing we miss greatly.......when you used to be able to wait on the ferry dock before the get. I remember one night we were waiting for the last ferry to St Thomas and the sky and quiet mood couldn't have been more perfect. I always remember that vividly. Then, of course, when the ferry turns off their topside lights and we're just a dark blip in the water gazing at the stars -- again priceless!!

Neposter, I was wondering what a get was. 😉

High Tide! That's it! Thank you! I was thinking it was called surf something. But it's High Tide.

We ate there right after we got off the ferry to kind of let the crowds die down a bit. My husband had mahi something (either a taco or wrap) and said it was extremely good. I'm a vegetarian, so I had the veggie wrap, and I don't know what they did to it, but it was the best veggie wrap I've ever had. I think it must have been whatever sauce or dressing they used.

Thanks for figuring it out for me. I'm scrapbooking our trip and was struggling to remember. 🙂
