Just checked mine (PHL-STT on 7/13; returning 7/23). Looks like the flight # and time changed, but it is still scheduled - for now at least. USAirways flight #1018 (was #1424) now departs PHL at 9:55A (was 9:30A) and arrives STT at 1:57P. The return has also changed: flight #434 (was #134) now departs STT at 3:00P (was 2:30P) and arrives PHL st 6:54P.

Were you also on the PHL-STT flight?

yes we were due to leave 10/3 from philly direct to STT and returning on 10/12. flights 1424 and 134. Now it looks like the only direct flights are on sunday at that time of year. we were thinking we would go earlier and at least get the direct flight down but it is the day after our wedding and it just seems like too much trouble to be ready to get a flight that next morning.

our flight now arrives STT around 4 as opposed to 1 so we might change our flight down to monday and go to Caneel for one night before checking in to our villa.

I've been expecting our departure to change, as it is on Thursday and I know they have cancelled the PHL-STT weekday flights in May, June, and the first week of July. So far so good, though. The time changes work out well as we originate in BOS and the extra half hour gives us a bit more breathing room to conect in PHL.

Caneel is an excellent place to start your honeymoon! We spent 3 nights there for ours. Just make sure they will allow you to stay for one night -some places insist on a minimum stay.

I just posted a reply on on the other VI board. Call US Air, they still have direct flights.

thanks but Saturday travel isn't working for us. 9/30 is our wedding day so that's out. There is a direct on Sunday but we decided it was just too much to be ready to get married and go on vacation ALL on the same day!

we are now going 10/2 and staying at Caneel for one night before going to our villa.

I noted the comments in regards to US Air, my daughter & friend are coming to visited us next week and I had purchased tickets on line for them thru US Air.

I happened to check the itinerary on their flights yesterday, they are to leave from Ohare to Phil. then on to STT.

US Air had given them 29 minutes to make their connection if everything was perfect and ontime. Plus they had to go from Terminal B to Terminal A-West.

So I called US Air and was told that they could not make that connection as it was not enough time, that they would have to take the next flight from Philly to STT, that was at 10:55pm and would arrive in STT at 3:20am.

When I questiond the wisdom of making such a connection on a reservation I was told the computer must have made a mistake.

I share this with all of you as you may want to check your connection times.....

After a two hour call to customer relations the flights have been rebooked thru Charlotte to STT. Much better times and plenty of time to make connection.

The pleasures of flying to the islands....

We had a 30 min connection in PHL on our last trip down. Predictably, we left BOS almost an hour late and were pretty convinced there was no way we could make the connection. The flight attendants on our BOS-PHL flight were in contact with ground and let us know (during the flight) that they would hold PHL-STT for us, so although we were late, we would make it. Huge relief! We still set a land speed record in PHL (adrenaline rush!) - but the flight was still waiting and we made it.

I think that because STT is a final destination and not a hub, they will hold that flight for a reasonable amount of time if there are connectors who are en-route.

Nice when they hold the flight for you, especially since during the off-season there may be only one flight a day. However, if you’re the one whose flight was on time, you’re now going to be late getting to STT. Another reason to shift into Island Time the minute you leave the house for the airport.

The computer made a mistake...

Is that like one of those "inch versus metric" issues NASA has every now and again?

I was very grateful that they did, let me tell you! It was island time for me the moment I set foot on the plane 🙂

Sigh. You guys on the East Coast have such an easy time getting to the VI. It's a much longer and more complicated production coming from the West Coast. 4 hour flight indeed! I wish!

We also had a flight from Pittsburgh to Philly then on to STJ. I purchased the flights early (and paid more) to get there in the early afternoon. Now we find, our flight has changed and it arrives later! And there is really nothing we can do about it. We also are going through Charlotte. I hope there are no more changes!

Lorie - We are in the same boat as you. Had a flight booked from Pittsburgh to Philly then to STT, but it was cancelled literally 3 days after we booked it - you think they would have told the travel agent that they were going to drop the flight! I never would have know about it if it weren't for this board. Right after we rescheduled through Charlotte, I checked the USAir website and it seems they are still running the PIT-PHL-STT route up until around May 7 or 8....we are leaving May 11.

Usually the CLT flight lands here around 4 PM - and there's a beach RIGHT THERE if you wanna dip yer toes in the water for a few hours to avoid downtown at 5 PM....and leave time for the cruise ship traffic to clear out as well.

When I head stateside my final destination is CLT, and one time my bag was the ONLY one to get off the plane.

I do believe that 1018 is the regularly scheduled flight number in...and 1480 or 1481 for the return flight. I looked at my suitcase, but the tag isn't there anymore.

Can you tell I'm pretty darned familiar with Douglas Airport? 🙂 It's not all that hard to make it from one side to the other when changing flights, either. They've installed those new Pedways (flat escalators) in most of the concourses, and I always make use of 'em. Here's a concourse map:
