My boyfriend and I will be staying on St Thomas from Feb 14-25. We are planning on taking day trips to the surrounding islands. Any suggestions for secluded beaches? Places to eat dinner? Places NOT TO MISS? Best way to travel to/from islands and around the islands? Do we need to rent a car? We are staying at the Wyndham. This is our first time here and want to make the best of our trip. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you. Karen

Do some reading on this board because there's alot of good info about STT.

Not to miss beaches: Coki and Sapphire. Linqvuist is pretty secluded, but if you're talking VERY secluded, you won't find that in the US Virgin Islands. I suggest you rent a dinghy from Noahs Little Arks on St. John.

Yes!!! Rent a jeep. Call dependable car rental. Best prices.

Number one: If you rent a jeep - drive slowly and remember to stay on the LEFT:P

Number two: Search the board and this web site for great places to eat and places to visit:D

Number three: Slow down and enjoy yourselves - we vacation on island time - slow and lazy.

Number four: Take tons of picures;)

You will have the times of your lives and make enough memories for the rest of your lives:P

Where are you staying????

Lattitude 18 is really cool because it's so island like, but it's very hard to find. A place to go and really relax on the water.
Duffy's is neat. Open air, good drinks, good food and laid back.
Molly Mallones is right in Red Hook. It's across the street from Duffy's, so you can go back and forth if you'd like.

Again, rent a car. It's not like you can walk everywhere (depending where you are staying).

Relax, enjoy the beauty and have a ball.

I just added your suggestion to see the fiddler to our "things to do" list.

I love to listen to a good fiddler;)

Thanks;)

Water Island is a great day trip. Go to Crown Bay Marina, hang at Tickles until it's time for the Water Island ferry to make a scheduled run (sign is posted in the first slip on the corner next to Tickles). When you get to Water Island ferry landing, walk up a short hill, take a right, go down a short hill and on your right is Honeymoon Beach. Heidi's Honeymoon Grill serves up the best burgers, chicken sandwiches with a side of potatoe, pasta or ceasar salad every day. Joe's Beach Bar serves up frozen drinks including a pretty mean Bushwacker.

Is there any snorkeling at Honeymoon Beach? Also, will Heidi's be open the first week of Aug.? We've been to STT many times, but have yet to go over to Water Island. Been thinking that this might be the trip to do that.

Honeymoon is very calm, sandy and as you get further from shore, grass. If you venture to the left and around the rocky point, there's marine life (fish, sea urchins, sea turtles) you might see. If you venture to the right, past the first swim buoy, you'll see same/similar. It's a very relaxed snorkel adventure. I know that vendors do slow down and have abbrieviated schedules during the August/September months as there are not as many visitors to the islands. But, I think Heidi is still open each day for lunch for workers. Joe may be only open on the weekends during August......though, all depends on the activity.
