Bluwater -- I have taken your advice on numerous topics and hope you can help again this year. Please provide expertise again! Searching for spectacular sunsets, cool breezes, pool, hottub, covered patio for afternoons (for those who do not like sun as much as myself), wonderful views, etc. Late June or July trip in the works!

Thanks.

tom,

don't know anything about allesandra but the views. went past her daily in december while staying at treasure ridge which is just about a. views to die for convenient location on upper rockridge rd and drive's not bad, but there's a step very hard left turn just before you reach her. we did in car without trouble couple yrs ago when we were staying even higher up rockrd. one draw back, there's a villa under construction directly across st (but uphill so you don't see) will have some const noise.

enjoy

I rethought my answer and decided that like the Rolling Stones "You can't always get what you want." June/July, spectacular sunsets, cool breezes don't go together. Most villas with great sunsets bake in the afternoon sun, Breezes sometimes go away at that time of year. You may want to give up sunsets for cooler Bordeaux Mtn, Ajax Peak, or Carolina Ridge locations.

I actually stayed in a villa on Gifft HIll last year the week of July 4th and the breezes were wonderful believe it or not! The sunsets are a must! I will keep checking.

I agree with the previous poster. We rented Perelandra once around Memorial Day and once around 4th of July and both times it was wonderful--great sunset views, nice enough breezes that we were very comfortable & they kept the bugs away so we could stay out on the deck after dinner talking & laughing far into the night; I even felt comfortable when taking my 'midnight swims' under the moonlight before I went to bed.

I can't remember all your criteria but you may want to check out Perelandra: as mentioned above, it has wonderful sunset views (wonderful views all day long!); private pool; a/c in both the bedrooms each with their own bath; close to town and beaches; really nice.

I really think the breezes have less to do with East/West location and more to do with how high up the mountain a villa is. Though, having said that, the Mamey & Ajax peak areas, having stayed at a couple villas there as well--really more like cottages--was very what I would call windy rather than breezy. So in August thru October I might be tempted to stay there but the rest of the year I would definitely prefer Cruz Bay area. I LOVE not only sunsets but right afterwards when everything gets really "deep purple haze" feeling and then you get the moonlight with the 'christmas tree lights' of St. Thomas. I love it!

HI all. Just checking in and saw this post. CJ, I'll need to look into this later this evening when I have more time. Have you decided?

I've been on vacation from vacation world (in other words - consumed with work). Ick! But, gotta make the $$ to be able to play in the sand.

Will check back later on....

CJ,

Did you check out the link to Allesandra? Tom will have a report on it when he returns (next week?). It seems to have what you've asked for and looks very nice. I'm excited about reading Tom's opinion.

Not sure how many bedrooms you require.

Sapphire Breeze is also in the Chocolate Hole area, on Sunset Ridge.

Sorry for the delay -- but I have been consumed with work this past week. We have actually booked Bongo Bongo, but could not get the villa until Monday (and we are arriving on Saturday). We might stay on St. Thomas for 2 nights or try and find something on St. John for 2 nights if we can find someone who will rent fewer then 3 nights. I checked at Coconut (something) and they require a 3-night stay. I guess we could always pay the additional night -- but anyone who has some suggestions will be appreciated!

You might try Gallows Point, Lavender Hill, or Estate Lindholm. I'm not sure if they have a minimun night stay, but they all look very nice, although I have only stayed at GP.

We stayed at villa named Plumeria on Gifft Hill. This villa is in a cluster that includes Cloud 9 (which I think Papabou has stayed). Plumeria is wonderful! It has a great covered area outside with outside couches, ceiling fans, etc. The view is incredible. This villa has been updated so this is a plus also. The only thing this villa does not have that Cloud 9 has is the view into harbor with the sailboats. The rest of the view is there and it is incredible to lookout in the morning!

P.S. Plumeria does not have a hot tub -- did not really miss it in July, but may be important to others.
