We have purchased several of the books posted here, but one of the best ones is "St. John Beach Guide", by Gerald Singer. The photography is unbelievable. When you are back home and missing the views of the water and beaches, just pick this book up and you'll feel like you're there. It also has some great history stories of several of the beaches and best ways to get there, etc. I love the old picture of the Gibney family sitting on Gibney Beach in the 1950s.

Other favs are "St. John Feet, Fins & Four Wheel Drive" and we're waiting for "St. John off the Beaten Track" to come in the mail anyday now.

I've been thinking of ordering one. I kept all of the pamphlets and magazines from STJ and STT. I flip through them every now and then. 🙂 I'd love the history portion of that book you're talking about! Someone here posted some links to old old photos from the islands. Very interesting!

Gari Ann,
The photos are amazing. I'd love to order some blown-up and have them framed. It has air pictures of the beaches and so much to read. Did you know Oppenheimers lived there also?

😉

Very cool! I've thought of ordering a beach photo from someone. I have my own photos, but I think I'd like a big one from the air, like you are saying. I wonder where we could find those?

I have Feet, Fins & 4 Wheel Drive, St. John Beach Guide and Steve Simonson's Living Art. I absolutely LOVE them all. I just ordered Off the Beaten Path just cause I''ve pretty much memorized the others so I am in need of a new read. If you like the photography in STJ Beach Guide, you would be very happy with Steve's pictorial. I have it as a coffee table book. It's fabulous!

You can also order prints off Steve Simenson's website

www.stevesimonsen.com

I have the Living Art book and a print from him. I am thinking about adding a couple of more prints to my collection. They really are as gorgeous in person as you would hope. They also ship very fast...minimal wait.

I have to agree, I love my St. John Beach Guide! I originally got it for my mother just before our trip as a gift. As soon as she was done with it I borrowed it and we used it during our entire trip. I was reading a wedding website and thought it was a neat idea to use a picture book like this one as a guestbook for a wedding instead of the standard plain ones. Here's a couple of pics! This one was my reading material on the plane, the other one is my husbands.
