Hi All

Is there a beach party every Wednesday night at Bologno Bay? Is it kid friendly? Does anyone know anything about this? Any info is appreciated!

Take care
Christie

Wednesday night is Calypso night at Bolongo which includes a West Indian buffet and a live show with limbo and broken bottle dancing and a crafts fair. It is very kid friendly (especially the dancing). The fee is $27 for adults with a discount for kids.

However, it's scheduled every Wed IN SEASON and during most of the season, but they do take an extended break starting in maybe mid-late August until maybe Nov, and there may be other short breaks throughout the year. When it's on hiatus, I think it's just like any other night at the bar/restaurant - probably no live entertainment. It's very popular, and most locals take their visiting friends to the show.

It's not a beach party, it's a Caribbean buffet (you can take that part or not, but I have been twice and the food is very good),
followed by dancing by a Mocko Jumbie or two, then a Voodoo guy walks on glass, eats fire etc etc...sometimes they have local kids showcasing talent (little girls twirling fire batons when I was there in August)...it's fun and definitely for kids too. They make a conga line and lead the kids around and cater to everyone really. The dinner buffet includes all types of island salads, potato, seafood, fruit, coleslaw. There are carved roast beef and roast pork that are very tender and delicious. There is rice & beans, shrimps, fungi, johnny cakes, mac & cheese, veggies. There is an island lady who makes kallaloo soup. For dessert there is mango cheesecake and a delicious fudgy chocolate cake. I think the price was about $20/adult, don't know what the kids price was. On the way onto the beach there are about a dozen local people selling their crafts, not pricey either. I bought a double switchplate cover decorated with sand and seashells for $6 and 2 ankle bracelets $4 each. Island music goes on into the night with a live band. All in all, it's a lot of fun and right on the beautiful Bolongo beach under the palm trees.

Hope this answers your questions, Debbie

I'm guessing Bolongo Beach is on STT-? (not too familiar with STT,-,aside from Duffy's)

Bolongo is on the south shore about halfway between Red Hook and town

Sounds great! Do you need to make a reservation or just show up?

Do they serve off the menu also or just buffet that night?

You can do the buffet, order off the menu or just skip dinner and go to the show...8-)
