Just don't spend your vacation days there 🙂 Get out to all of the fabulous beaches on STJ and experience all the great restaurants in Cruz Bay and you will have a wonderful time 🙂

I stayed at the Westin last year in March. Me and my boyfriend went (im 21) and had a great time. However....we spent barely any time what so ever at the beach or even the resort. Its a nice place but not worth the hype i dont think? The grounds are beautiful and kept up very well, but you do not experience local island flavor at the resort. The most time we spent at the resort ( besides in our room sleeping) was one day we went down to the desk and went jet skiing. Other wise, we went to Jost one day, Trunk, Cinnamon and so forth. It was a good time. I agree with the person who posted before me! Get out and dooo way more! Hope this Helps

We have stayed at the westin twice and going back next Jan. . As stated above get out and around the island and the resort will be fine. The grounds are lovely and some like the pool, but we are beach people so head off every day in a Jeep and explore the island's charm. I wouldn't waste any time or $$$ eating anywhere at the resort...way too many other places from one end of the island to the other. The only thing we ever ate at the hotel was at the bar one night and it was extremely disappointing and expensive. If I am going to spend alot for food (which I often do) I want something that deserves the expense, and there are plenty of fine dining establishments elsewhere.

PLEASE report back when you get home and let us know how the conversion construction is coming along!...how you liked the resort and the island, etc!

Were going in July, and this is our 3rd time staying at the Westin. I like it alot, very clean and the pool is nice. We dont eat meals there because I feel Westin is overpriced with their restaurant menus. I guess you learn the ins and outs, and how to save a little bit of money by experiencing the island and place you stay each time you go.

We own a Timeshare (TS) at the Westin (Hillside) and love it - we have a pool and BBQ grills right next to our unit - a great view of the bay - and full use of the resort (which also serves a hotel). The hotel portion is getting smaller since 4 hotel buiding are getting converted to TSs. The TSs also have a full kitchen, washer/dryer - etc.

I agree that you need to check out as much of STJ as possible (especially the north side beaches) - but the Westin resort is also a nice place to relax at - it gets beat up on this board a liitle too much (IMO). We found it really nice if we just wanted to hang out and read by the pool/beach - and then take a mid-day nap. The beach may be the worst on the island, but it is very nice if you just care to hang out by the resort pool/bar - and use the facilities that the Westin provides - plus the kids love the water toys off the beach. We are going to be there in 4 short weeks - can't wait...

On our last trip we stayed at the Westin for a couple of nights. Service was good. The kids enjoyed the pool as well as the beach toys (paddle boat, kayak, etc.). The beach isn't the greatest on the island as others have said above. But I am just happy to lay on a chair and read a good book while on the islands.... but that's just me So go out and explore. We had breakfast there but lunch and dinner were outside the resort. We will be going back again for a few nights this July (be on STT most of the time) and are looking forward to it.

On a side note, you might be able to get a cheaper rate if you call them directly versus going through a service. Just my 2 cents.

Also - you can find people who own the Westin TSs that rent out their units for way less than what Westin charges.

Were renting a villa in July at a very reasonable price. We decided this summer to rent the villa and see how we like it.
