Heading to St. Thomas in Feb, and want to visit both, but I will most likely have to pick just one. Which would you choose and why?

Thanks all

If I had to choose just one, I would go with Soggy Dollar. The beach is one of the prettiest I've ever seen, just amazing, there are chairs and hammocks to lounge on. Foxy's beach is not as pretty; only one hammock.

its a mute point... u will have to clear customs in great harbor (where foxy's is) which will take 20 mins or so and u can walk over and visit foxys and then take the short trip around to white bay (where sogg is) as far as which one is better??? i would say nights at foxys and days at the soggy

It depends on the time of day. During the day I would go to White Bay visit all the bars there and hang out on the most beautiful beach I have ever seen One Love is the best for bushwackers! Seddy runs the place and is actually Foxy's son. In the evening everyone goes over to Foxy's for dinner, drinks and dancing. Its only a 5 min. cab ride between the two. Or at least after a lot of bushwackers it seemed like 5 mins!!!

I am a painkiller man myself, and since Soggy Dollar is the originator, I will have to hit there. What is a bushwacker? Haven't tried one of those yet.

I think at One Love its made with the following ingredients: baileys, kaluha, amaretto, rum , vodka and coco lopez. Raquel, Seddy's wife, is the bartender there and she was constantly topping off our drinks. If you are lucky Seddy will do some magic for you too!

Downtown:

I'm sure you realize that Foxy's & the Soggy Dollar are on Jost Van Dyke.

That being said, you'll probably go over via ferry for the day.

Suggestion....visit the Soggy Dollar & beach first (don't forget Gertrude's place), then take the taxi back to Foxy's while waiting for the ferry back to STT.

Yes, I do realize they are both on JVD. I was trying to squeeze in a snorkel trip, the Baths, and a stop at one (or both), but maybe I can break it up into a couple of day trips.

Thanks for the advice!

if you are going to be there during the day, soggy dollar definitely. foxy's is usually empty during the day, just a few people and maybe foxy wandering around, playing a few songs. soggy dollar will be much more lively and you can sit there for hours and try and swing a stupid ring around a hook on a tree, very very very frustrating......

I have to agree that soggy dollar is much better during the day...several times I have been to Foxy's during the day and it is very quite during different seasons.

Oh God, its Friday and I need an STJ/BVI fix!!! What is Gertrudes? So if we take a boat (we're thinking of renting a power boat like we did a few years ago), can we pull up to Foxy's then walk to Soggy Dollar (we're great on walking) or should we plan to motor to both?? NOVEMBER CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH!!!

Gertrude's is just up fthe beach rom the Soggy Dollar.

I'd take a taxi from Foxy's to the Soggy Dollar or the boat (you'll need to anchor & swim ashore).

More than you asked for, but.....

We took the weekend ferry over to JVD and started our day at Ivan's "Stress Free Bar". Stayed there from 10:30 till just after noon. Had lunch and Bananawackers there. Burgers never tasted so good! Walked over the hill to Soggy Dollar for the early afternoon sun and fun. Yes - we switched to Painkillers at Soggy Dollar and it is a "don't miss" beach. The ferry back to STJ left at 3pm, so we left Soggy Dollar around 2 and headed over to Foxy's. Only spent 20 - 30 minutes there due to time, but for us -- it was enough. Nice place, but no really nice beach and very shaded area. Foxy was playing music and the small crowd was definitely enjoying themselves, but our day-trip just couldn't afford time away from White Bay beach area. I'm sure Foxy's is awesome in the evenings. So - don't forget Ivan's -- he is usually around and the beach/burgers/bananawackers are great.

Have fun!
