*Hi,
What's the winter water temp. in the Virgin Islands? Should we consider bringing our "cut off" wet suits for snorkeling?

Also, we're spending a week on St. Johns, but have 2 extra nights available. If we stayed on Virgin Gorda or Tortolla, where would be the best location to stay ( in a moderately priced place - not fancy)

Thanks much.

I believe it's a chilly 79F! In summer, it's up to 84F. People born here or who have lived here a while can supposedly tell the difference. Can't answer the BVI question.

IN THE WINTER THE WATER IS STILL WARM,WET SUITS ARENT NEEDED UNLESS YOU ARE WEARING THEN FOR PROTECTION FROM CUTS AND SCRAPES,NOT VERY LIKELY IF YOUR JUST SNORKELING

Ha, ha! Just you wait, FOG! You won't get in that cold water this winter, either!!

Nancy: I wear a dive skin snorkeling in the summer and a shorty wet suit in the winter. It does give you extra protection from the sun, coral and the cold. It extends the amount of time you can enjoy the underwater world!

Re: BVI- most of the places are pretty pricy, even if they are plain!
