OK, so our family just got back last month from a VI trip, BUT in the spirit of planning the next trip ...

Just got an invite to stay at the Marriott STT for 5 days/4 nites for $399 total (must listen to 90 min spiel on timeshares) AND American flights are running $340/rt (which is also a kick a$$ price from STL). Now, the tough part, HOW DO I PRESENT THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO THE HUBBY AND CONVINCE HIM TO BOOK THE TRIP ??

Understanding that 1) we just put in a pool ($$) and having a big party for 50 people this weekend ($$), 2) we were just there, 3) he will realize just how addicted I am wanting to go back so soon (I say NO, NO, NO to rehab) and 4) he's a bit more "frugal" than I. Working on my side is 1) the price, 2) the opportunity for some "alone" time (no kids 😉 , 3) he does love the VI's ALMOST as much as I do.

Ideas??

Prayer and bribery. What does he like best that you can give him?

CoCo took the words right out of my mouth! Seriously though, that air and hotel pricing is the bomb! I'd be ALL OVER that!

1. Get dolled up in the naughty outfit.

2. Light the candles.

3. Pour the drinks (Cruzan of course.)

4. Raise your glass to his, lean over provocatively, then quietly whisper in his ear

"Cheers, sweetheart, the rest is soon to come - ON ST THOMAS!"

I read the first message of the thread and thought, well, "DUH - liquor and sex!" Apparently, great VI-Now minds think alike...

Bedroom? Why limit ones "activities" to the bedroom?
Personally, the skimpy outfits can sometimes be a bit over the top. I prefer the original birthday suit provocatively attired by a bed sheet.
Sorry...wrong forum.

Yeah, go ahead and use the rum & other thing.

My advice, compared to the rest, is quite boring.................
It's an incredible deal! We are traveling to STT this week end and staying on the east end of the island. We looked into the timeshare deal in STT and was very tempted. We did a timeshare presentation with Marriott in Aruba. Advantages------------incredible price, low pressure, 90 minute presentation. We intend on participating in the timeshare package with an upgrade within the next year. How can you go wrong? Good Luck!

LLBL:

A different point of view.......

You didn't say what time of the year this special was offered.

While the lodging is only $100./night. ($399. for 4 nights)...how good are you saying "NO" to a high pressure salesperson who has been trained to make you say yes? Many people go to these low cost promotions only to spend tens of thousands more on time shares. You apparently like STT (like us) so you may be inclined to agree to a sales pitch. Is this what you really want?

Also, the air fare is $340. each. So your total cost for 4 nights/5 days, if that's all you're staying for, will be $1,179. or $295./night. Then add your food and extras.

There will always be airfare sales........

Book it then tell him! He can't say no, it's already paid for and just keep a strong sense of reality when listening to the sale pitch and be ready to say no. In the meantime you are on island for a few days and you've only wasted 90 minutes listening to a sales pitch and you have the rest of the time to enjoy a quick, inexpensive vacation and the worst thing is your husband is mad at first but once he puts his toes in the sand he's all yours! that's what I'd do!
