OK, so our family just got back last month from a VI trip, BUT in the spirit of planning the next trip ...

Just got an invite to stay at the Marriott STT for 5 days/4 nites for $399 total (must listen to 90 min spiel on timeshares) AND American flights are running $340/rt (which is also a kick a$$ price from STL). Now, the tough part, HOW DO I PRESENT THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO THE HUBBY AND CONVINCE HIM TO BOOK THE TRIP ??

Understanding that 1) we just put in a pool ($$) and having a big party for 50 people this weekend ($$), 2) we were just there, 3) he will realize just how addicted I am wanting to go back so soon (I say NO, NO, NO to rehab) and 4) he's a bit more "frugal" than I. Working on my side is 1) the price, 2) the opportunity for some "alone" time (no kids 😉 , 3) he does love the VI's ALMOST as much as I do.

Ideas??

If you book it, then tell him and he can't say no, he can still divorce you.

Hmmmmm......for YOUR hub........ODH?

ODH likes you as you are - strong and convincing.

I ,who spent a day with you two last month, say you should put on your yellow cowgirl hat (ode to the VI), a pair of cowgirl boots, a bikini...and be vacuuming when he comes home.

The first three will remind of him of your last visit to the VI -and the last will remind him of why he absolutely needs you to be happy and compensated.

Ladies, am I ready to get married, or what? haha

As a hubby with 17 years of experiance, any (or all) of the following would work for me 🙂

**************************************************
"Woooooo girl, you better get your naughty outfit on and rock his world LMFAO..."
*********************************************
"1. Get dolled up in the naughty outfit. "

"2. Light the candles."

"3. Pour the drinks (Cruzan of course.)"

"4. Raise your glass to his, lean over provocatively, then quietly whisper in his ear"

"Cheers, sweetheart, the rest is soon to come - ON ST THOMAS!"
**********************************************
"DUH - liquor and sex!"
************************************************
"Bedroom? Why limit ones "activities" to the bedroom?
Personally, the skimpy outfits can sometimes be a bit over the top. I prefer the original birthday suit provocatively attired by a bed sheet. "
Sorry...wrong forum.

Yeah, go ahead and use the rum & other thing.
***************************************************
Maybe it's time to get out the whips and chains, and have him begging for MERCY!!!
***************************************************
Or, you could use whip cream and chocolate syrup---works just as good!
**************************************************
I ,who spent a day with you two last month, say you should put on your yellow cowgirl hat (ode to the VI), a pair of cowgirl boots, a bikini...and be vacuuming when he comes home.
****************************************************************

Just book it, if your hubby gets mad at you for booking the trip I'll go....my wife won't like it....but hey 🙂

Landlocked -

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission! Book it. The cowgirl thing wouldn't hurt, either, while asking for said forgiveness...However, If he won't forgive, I say take "Island Time."

Guess making him lasagne isn't one of the better ideas according to On Island Time,
maybe that only works when you've screwed up the checkbook.

I have to say that offering up my "oral services" to hubby ALWAYS gets me exactly what I want. It's a bargaining tool, and I use it to my advantage. The day that stops working is the day I need to start worrying.

Aside from that, I suggest you take a close look at your budget and negotiate a way to make the trip work. What kind of spending can you cut out for the next month or two in order to accomodate a $1500 vacation? If your hubby is frugal and practical, you might want to arm yourself with a budget to prove that this spending was carefully considered.

Last, how about you call the trip an early b-day, anniversary, or holiday present? You can arrange the whole thing without his knowledge. Tell him you're taking him somewhere special for a few days and to arrange some time off. Then just get him to the airport and he can find out where you're going on that day. If he throws a pity party over the spending, you'll have your little budget in hand and promises of naughtiness once you get to the island.

Crystal,
So nice to know your husband likes the dentist chair. That kinky drill thing, I guess.

Yes...from what I understand, most husbands quite enjoy the dentist chair. No drills, though....ouch!

Crystal,

My wife stopped using the oral services years ago. Your husband is lucky.

Anyhow if my wife came to me and said we are going back I would be packed before her. We love it in St Thomas.

Just tell him about the deal and practice saying no to the salesman.

well that is still better than nothing ; ) I would take bargaining once in a while .............

Any husband that wouldn't want to go to the Islands with his wife probably has something else on the side.....

Once the kids are raised and on their own we plan on taking a yearly trip to STT and or STJ and try out all the different private villas. We stayed at Cayenne the last time we were down and we are going to STT and stay at Sapphire Village for a quick 5 day getaway on August 15th. This time next week hope to be on the beach with my wife and a cooler full of cruzan rum mixed with frozen lemonade. Going to try and get to Little Magens and get my wife to drink a bunch of rum before we go to so I can convince her to take her swimsuit off. Thank goodness for rum : ) Hopefully the police don't decide to visit.....

lol...that's hilarious...the rum/swimsuit thing, I mean.

as for bargaining, hubby has totally caught on and now I think he tries to act like he doesn't want to do certain things (mostly shopping and restaurant choices) so that i'll offer up a bargain. the longer we're married, though, the less I bargain. we're at 3 1/2 years right now...it only gets worse from here, lol. so i can't say i blame your wife. rum, though, that might be your key!

hubby and i are headed out on a flight Monday afternoon. we have the most horrific flight schedule: departing san diego at 3pm, arriving jfk at 11pm, departing jfk at 8am, and arriving stt at noon....then it's taxi and ferry and car rental to coral bay. yeah, 24+ hours. i convinced hubby that we should book a hotel near jfk for the night to avoid sleeping in the airport...8.5 hour layover...so long as we can refrain from cabbing into the city for a midnight slice of ray's pizza, I think we'll manage 5 hours of sleep.

i'm crossing my fingers that we all have some clear skies for our beach time and (selfishly) rainy evenings/nights...coming from san diego, i need some rain (i'm sure the islands could use a bit, too.

we leave Wednesday at 11:30 AM from Charlotte NC, and arrive at 3:15 PM in STT. It is good to live on the East Coast for trips to STT. Hope you and your husband have a great time on STJ. We take a trip over to STJ every time we go down it is a beautiful Island. We hope to stay in some of the Private Villas on STJ as well as STT. We rent a car so we can get around easily. I hope there are sunny skies the whole time as well as we are sun/beach lovers. Have a great time !!!!!!!!!!!!
