Need some help on what beach we should visit. We're coming in on a cruise for one day (Saturday) and would like some info on what beach to visit. Looking for one that we can swim and relax but it has to have a place to eat and bathrooms. Any suggestions?

Also would it be better to go over to St. Johns for the day and if so any suggestions? I heard trunk bay is nice? My only concern is we have to be back to the ship around 4 pm. I've heard it could be risky since we have to take a ferry and I'm not sure when or how long the ride is. Any help would be appreciated.

I would suggest Secret Harbor for the day. The beach is beautiful, on St. Thomas, has a great restaurant, bathrooms and it is quiet. Good for swimming and snorkeling.

If not that, go to Magens. Beautiful beach. They have an adequate restaurant and bathrooms.

Donna's suggestions for St. Thomas; Magens Bay or Secret Harbor or good ones. I prefer the swimming at Magens Bay, softer sandier bottom, bigger beach. Sapphire is a nice one also.

On St. John (which is doable, lots of folks take the ferry over and get back to the ship in time. Red Hook ferry takes 20-25 minutes, you'd take a taxi from the dock to the ferry, which is around $10 one way one person and takes around 25 minutes). For St. John try Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay, Caneel Bay is lovely also.

You might want to go to the St. Thomas and St. John Guide's respectively on this web site, look in the top navigation and select beaches - each island has a beach guide with pictures, descriptions and facilities.

None of the beaches in St. Thomas are close enough to walk from the cruise ship dock to them.... you have to take a taxi or drive.
