Okay, so I've read the reviews on both and I'm not one to let mixed reviews deter me from experiencing certain things for myself. So with that being said, in terms of amenities, service, location, rooms, resort features, area activities, etc, which one of these resorts would you recommend? This question is mainly for those who have stayed at one or both of the properties and/or the locals in the area who are familiar with either. Thank you.

We stayed at BB's and it was a nice quiet place to stay. It is not your high class resort, but it had nice views and a quiet beach. We had to go to the Elysian for the usual Timeshare Shpeal. It looked like a pretty place, but a ways to the beach and lots of people. It depends on if you like to have lots of people around and more "stuff" or more seclusion and less "stuff"! We were very happy at BB's Beach Club though.

We've owned Timeshare and have been staying at the Elysian for the past ten years. The Elysian is not the Ritz but is very comfortable and close to Red Hook and the ferry dock. We are usually on island in late October / early November and have not had the large crowds on the beach as during season. The two restaurants on property Roberts and Ansley's are fantastic, we've always had great meals and enjoyed just sitting and have a few drinks at both.

I stayed at the Elysian two years ago and it was much better then BBBC.

I would stay at the Elysian. Just got back from a week's stay at BBBC and the restaurant, bar, swim up bar, and gift shop were all closed (two weeks mgm't says).

The property is in dire need of renovation. The 1 BR with a kitchen is perfect for two people. The kitchen faucet leaked and the fan in the half bath was loud and quite irritating. For some reason there was no fan in the main bath room. The unit was clean and they expect you to clear out the refrigerator before you check out.

The Sunday orientation was good and Victoria is very knowledgeable and nice. We booked with Limnos Charters for a day trip to BVI (Virgin Gorda, Norman Island, and Jost Van Dyke). 100.00 per person plus 30.00 per per person for customs and 11.00 per person for lunch. The trip and lunch were FANTASTIC!!!. Includes all you can drink and snorkeling gear. The trip is 8-5 and is run daily unless there is a hurricane in the forecast. They meet at Compass Point just past the Food Center before Red Hook. Make sure you have a valid US passport or a green card with a valid British passport to renter US waters.

They also charged 11.00 per person per day for electricity for non owners of BBBC (A Total F...... Rip Off). We already pay ridiculous maintenance fees as it is and then they want to rob you once more when you get there (I was never told this on the phone before booking) Imagine That!!

One positive thing is that they got rid of all those irritating Wyndham sales people and claim they will be using that money to renovate the place for the next couple of years. I sure hope so because there were a lot of unhappy people staying the week I was there.

A car is a must because Taxis are a rip off. The roads can be a challenge so heavy foots beware (s-turns,l-turns, steep inclines, pot holes). Carry an island map with you in the car and if only go to one beach make it Magens Bay 4.00 per person plus 2.00 parking (Rt. 35). Stop by the Udder Delite on the way out. (The milkshakes are awesome!!).

The view from the top before you get down to Magens Bay is worth a look!

dancue: The electricity surcharge is a new thing. Our electric bills are extremely high, power is like water on an island, very dear. Many places try to get visitors to conserve- turn off the a/c when you leave the room, use it only in the room you are in, etc.- and have been unsuccessful. So the alternative is to be taxed for the wastefulness. I understand you feel it is a rip-off, but I am just trying to explain how it started. Okay? :$)

We just got back last Sat from the Elysian Beach Resort. We have been timeshare owners for many yrs. We just love it and can't wait to go back next yr. We own a loft with full kitchen plus open balcony and love to go out on it at night with all the twinkling stars. The rooms are well furnished and all appliances are new. The grounds are well maintained with beautiful blooming plants and lush greenery. It is a quiet resort. We have a view from our balcony of the pool and beach. You won't go wrong with staying here. You will probably want to come back.

We booked the Elysian for next month, can't wait!! We will be staying in the Loft. Does anyone know if they have DVD players in the rooms? Are there two TVs or one in the lofts? To those of you that decided to sit through the time share presentations, I heard that they offer you some type of perk or compensation . . . coupons, discounts are something?

Hi Lovely Star,

I'm so glad you are staying at the Elysian. You will love it. Our Loft did have a DVD player. If your Loft doesn't have one call the lobby and they should have one for you. There are 2 tv's one on the main floor and one in the Loft. In the Loft you will have a mini refrig plus a full bath. You will love the balcony from the Loft and the view is great. There are no salesman on the property so no presentation to go to. There will be a meeting on Sun. morning to get your coupons and discounts. They will tell you about it when you check in.
Have a great time!!

Why not set the the AC units to 78 degrees and make it so tenants can not adjust the temp.. You can not expect people on vacation to turn off the ac while their out because it will be hot in the unit when they return especially if there gone all day. People should be comfortable while on vacation.

I understand your reason for defending the cost of electricity in the islands but in the states the cost of electricity is regulated Imagine That!! and you never of hear of ridiculously high bills of 700-800 a month for ac if run all day at 78 degrees unless the people live in a mansion or the unit is faulty.

Does anyone know if there are telephones located in the rooms of the Elysian? Is there a service fee for making local calls on them? Also is there high-speed Internet access available and is there a fee for this service? Thank you.

It's been a long time since using the room phone, ATT works great for us, but if I remember correctly there was charge for a local call $.75 (?) and I've not heard many good reports concerning the wireless service either, hit and miss service. Things may have bee changed and up-dated since last year.

I rent a condo at the Elysian directly from the owner thru the very well respected web site VRBO. Our condo is absolutely magnificent with a state of the art granite kitchen with top appliances, beautiful furniture with custom design and fabrics, two balconies, two full baths that are fully renovated and deluxe, a king size temperpedic bed, 40 in flat screen tv, etc. If you book the Elysian through the hotel part, the units are not nearly as nice and are up a very steep hill from the beach. You can see all the pictures and comments from other people who stay at the privately owned condos via the VRBO web site. I have used it for over 12 years and have never been steered wrong.
