How many car barges are running between STT and STJ? I'm hoping it's still 2 that match the schedule listed on the VInow website?
@tedandmachele, those same two are running. During the last week there were routine Coast Guard inspections that resulted in "one barge only days" as the other barge underwent inspections; and in the last month some mechanical issues also resulted in some "one barge only days". When this happens the lines/wait is of course much longer.
Do they typically announce somewhere that only one barge will be operational that day btw? Or do just have to go there and feel lucky?

There is a facebook group for the car barge set up by a St. John resident that is helpful. Almost daily a few people post reports like "I went at 9am today and line was no problem", or "long line today, around to tennis courts", or "only 1 barge running today".
