Just got back from St Thomas and wanted to make my own report on the Galleon House. I had seen a very negative report on Trip Advisor, but decided to stay there as there were many more positive reports about it. Let me just say that it was a very pleasant stay. We stayed there for two nights out of the 9 we were on the Island. Be prepared for a lot of steps, it isn't for someone with difficulty walking. It isn't the Ritz, but we found it suited us just fine. The view is fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We spent $82 for a room with a shared bath and it was basic, but clean. You get a made to order breakfast in the morning. The staff have a great dog and two cats, so I felt right at home. Herve's is right next door for really great food that is a bit expensive, or you can walk down to the Green House on the Harbor during happy hour for half price drinks and appetizers. We ate off the trucks most of the time and had fabulous chicken, ribs and pattys. Heard some noise about it being an unsafe area near Galleon, but we did not feel that to be true, or at least no more or less so than any city of it's size. My traveling partner left her wallet in the room after our first night there. No money or credit cards, but medical cards and sentimental jewelry. They tried calling Blue Beard's to tell us they had her wallet, but we never got the message. When we got back there on our last night, they returned her wallet with everything intact. You really couldn't ask fo rmore than that....a clean, inexpensive place to stay run by good, honest people. We'll be going back.
