I recently learned that Herve' Restaurant next to Hotel 1829 has closed. Is that true? I was also wondering if Room with a View and Banana Tree Grille (both at Bluebeard's) are still open.

Thanks!

Yes, Herve closed but there's another restaurant there that's off to a shaky start, I hear. A French name.

The others are still open.

Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks just the same. Any recommendations on the best place to eat on St. John?

So far my favorite is LaTapa in Cruz Bay. Haven't had a chance to try La Plancha which everybody raves about or Fatty Crab.

I went by Chez Caribe to check out the menu, and will go back on Monday to try a few things. They have some interesting items on the menu, so I'm looking forward to the experience. Stay tuned!

Hey thanks! Also, if anybody knows where the food is good at Caneel Bay at night, please let me know.

Chez Le Caribe is the new restaurant where Herve was located. It is apparently the same chef that was with Herve that opened the new restaurant. I haven't been to the restaurant yet but they were at the Taste of Two Islands event last week and the samples they offered were excellent.

We went to St. Thomas 2 years ago and our favorite restaurant by far was Craig and Sally's in frenchtown. Check out the website!!
