Hello all!

We are traveling to St. Thomas the week of June 20-26 and would like to know what to look for, or expect. We are staying at the Sugar Bay Wyndham and would love to do as much snorkling as possible. Also read here on the message board that we can rent a Jeep for $50 a day at St. John to drive around the island & visit Trunk Bay and other beaches. How is the weather this time of year?

Any input as to what other places we can go, and any info on the hotel we are staying at, would be greatly appreciated!!

Bridget

Can anyone give me any input on my first message? We have read some stories about the Wyndham - but we are a very easy going couple and hope we will not have a bad experience like other people!

Thanks!!!

Hello,

Sugar Bay is a nice property; great pool, small/ok beach - definately beach hop to some of the others, nice grounds and place. If you are renting a car on St. Thomas you can take the car over to St. John with you on the car barge otherwise you can just rent a car for a day like you mentioned. The weather in June is usually sunny and hot; visit our weather section at https://www.vinow.com/usvi/weather.php for more information and stats.

What types of things are you interested in? beaches, restaurants, day trips, bars?

Hi!
Thanks for answering!
We are primarily interested in snorkeling, and some sightseeing. We are not big into restaurants/bars - we will be hooked up there at the Wyndham going all inclusive (we feel it is the best way to go for our liking!). I just got a Frommers book and it listed the beaches and where the snorkeling is better, like on Coki on Trunk Bay.

Do you live on St. Thomas? Can you give us an insider view on some really cool places to go? We are celebrating our 1 year anniversary ( a little late as we were married in September 03- and I have had to undergo 2 surgeries recently) - we went to Aruba for our honemoon and it was the first time my husband had gone snorkeling and he went nuts for it!

Thanks again for your input!

Bridget

The food at Wyndham is good..the drinks are good and plentiful..We have stayed there three years..we have kids however and the AI is attractive..Def rent a car...go to Megans Bay, Coki Beach..day on St. John and get to some of the beaches their..if you really want to do a day trip (well worth it for us)...ask the conceriage to set you up on a trip to British Virgin Islands..Jost Van Dyke..the boat ride is beautiful and the day is fun...
Also.the Ritz has a sail morning cruise or evenging one I think too..That is only a few hours..
have fun...

Hello,

Definately check out snorkeling at Coki Beach, maybe also Sapphire and Secret Harbor. Over on St. John you can do Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay. You might do an island tour and check out the historical sites in Charlotte Amalie. If you like to hike you might do a hiking trail on St. John; if you want a nice day with beach and hiking Cinnamon Bay is a good choice - there is a trail in walking distance of the beach and there is food and a little store there also. For a nice celebration trip you might book a charter and tell the captain/owner that its a special day - maybe they can get a bottle of wine or campagne for you... also the charters are often snorkel charters so your husband will get some snorkel time in.

It's been several years since we visited St. John for a day while on a cruise. Our viewpoint - you definitely need to spend a least a day on St. John with a car or Jeep.

We liked Hawksnest Bay (next door to Caneel). During the several hours we were there we saw three other people. Nice reef starting at waist deep and spanning across the bay. Good beach with trees for shade. Restroom facilities, also.

Did not snorkel a Trunk Bay, so can't comment on the underwater trail. It was really crowded the day we visited.

Don't know anything about the Wyndham.

Enjoy - the islands are beautiful and the weather should be good.

We're planning a trip to USVI in September-October.

Thank you all for your input - it is VERY helpful to have some insight before we go!

3 more days and we are SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! I have already packed most of my

things! We ended up buying our own snorkels - going to get the fins only from the hotel.

Thanks again for everyone's input!!! Will report back when we get back!

Bridget 🙂
