Must do/Must eat in St. john?

June 02, 2017 02:56PM

We are traveling to St. John next week and will only be staying for four nights. We are taking a day trip to Virgin Gorda and have reservations at Zozo's and no specific plans other than that.

Any recommendations for must see/must do beaches? Activities? Hikes?

We are looking to relax with beautiful scenery and have no idea where to begin with choosing which beaches to go to.

Also, any recommendations for restaurants. We are going to Zozo's one night and would like to keep it casual the rest of the time.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Lots to do and explore. Check out the dropdown menu at National Park site above.

Trunk Bay snorkel trail, Annaberg Ruins with its gorgeous views and historic sugar mill, Lienster Bay below is great for snorkeling out to Water Lemon Cay, ride out to Lamesure Bay, snorkel and walk down to reef bay, visit VIERS while there, watch for deer on the way down, check out the petroglyphs.
There are many hiking trails, so many beaches, have conch fritters at Shipwreck Landing, usually great food at Lime Inn.
Lots of restaurants to choose from, just depends what you're in the mood for. Asolare is wonderful and I enjoy Miss Lucy's for Caribbean cuisine.

Enjoy your stay.
You'll wish you were staying longer.

You are staying for 4 nights, which means 3 days. And for one of those days, you are going to Virgin Gorda. So for two days, I'd say beaches one day and hiking another. If the Park Service Reef Bay hike is available when you are here, I'd recommend that. For casual dining, go to Cruz Bay and see what tickles your fancy.

We are in St. John's now and love it. Find out when the cruise ships are in St. Thomas and avoid the popular beaches mid-morn to about 2pm. We get up early, cook bfast (love Dolphin grocery stores) then drive to the beaches about 8am. Can stake out a place in the shade, avoid any entrance fees for the kiosks aren't open yet and get a great parking space. Then around 3pm we head into Cruz Bay for happy hour which many times includes the food too. Great grilled tacos at the Beach Bar and had 1/2 price pizza at The Tao Room at Mongoose Junction. Also did some shopping there. Booked a day on Bad Kitty to the British Isles. Has great reviews. Our villa is high up above Coral Bay and the view is fantastic. Have been cooking late dinners here. Two nights ago swam at Maho Bay while the sun set. Make sure to rent a Jeep, grab a free map and go exploring!!!!!

We are in St. John's now....

For someone who writes so much about how awful St. Thomas is to St. John, you don't even know it's St. John and not St. John's?

Ocean three six two is a really good restaurant in Cruz Bay and overlooks the Bay Area so you can watch the sunset if you go around 6:30-7:00. Highly recommend.
